BC547 Transistors and Mixed BJT Assortments
Find BC547-family NPN bipolar junction transistors for small-signal switching and amplification, plus related BC-series selections and mixed transistor boxes. Individual listings offer BC547, BC547B and BC547C in TO-92, while some menus also list BC546, BC548, BC549 and BC550, their PNP counterparts, or surface-mount BC846/BC847/BC848 devices. This collection is not exclusively BC547: read the selected model and quantity before ordering.
Choose a single model or a real assortment
- BC547-only options: some listings offer a single BC547 or BC547B/C grade in 10-, 50- or 100-piece packs. The B/C suffix indicates a gain grouping; it does not make the devices interchangeable without checking the selected manufacturer's datasheet at your operating conditions.
- Shared model menus: TO-92 listings allow selection of BC546/547/548/549/550 and BC327/337/639/640 or BC556/557/558/559/560. BC557-family options are PNP, not BC547 NPN. A 1000-piece headline with ten model choices means the chosen option may be a single model, not ten models together. SOT-23 BC847-family menus also include BC807/817 and BC856/857 PNP or other NPN options. Check the actual option, not the headline.
- Complementary pairs: certain BC547B/BC557B listings specify 50 pairs (100 devices total) or 25 of each (50 total). These are mixed NPN/PNP pairs rather than a BC547-only lot. Other pair menus offer 2N5551/2N5401 or BD139/BD140 instead.
- Assortment boxes: 10-, 18-, 24- and 30-value TO-92 kits offer different combinations of BC547, BC337, BC517, 2N2222, S8050 and PNP models such as BC327, BC557, 2N3906 and S8550. A 200-piece ten-value box can contain 20 of each, while a documented 840-piece 24-value box contains 35 of each. Variant menus also offer 480-, 600- and 900-piece configurations; not every configuration necessarily includes BC547, so inspect its model list and per-model count.
- Other device types: some nearby menus include 2N7000 MOSFETs or unrelated IC choices such as AD8002, IRS2092 and STM8L101 alongside BC547C. These are not BC547 substitutes. Supplier claims of “original” are not independent authentication.
Selection checklist
- Confirm the full selected designation and polarity: BC547 is an NPN family, BC557 is PNP, and similarly numbered BC847 is a different, surface-mount package family.
- Compare the exact manufacturer's collector-emitter voltage, collector current, gain grouping and test current, saturation behavior, power dissipation and temperature derating. Do not transfer a headline rating to every model in a multi-option listing.
- Check lead order, board footprint and thermal conditions for TO-92 versus SOT-23; similar electrical roles do not imply pin-for-pin replacement.
- Confirm whether the order is one chosen model, an NPN/PNP pair or a mixed box. Fields labeled “Color” or “Voltage” often encode a model or kit size, not a color or validated voltage specification.
Frequently asked questions
Are BC547B and BC547C the same?
They are BC547-family NPN gain-grade selections, but compare the full manufacturer datasheets and circuit requirements before substitution.
Is BC557B another BC547 option?
No. BC557B is a PNP-family choice offered in some shared menus and complementary pairs.
Does every mixed kit contain BC547?
No. Several kit configurations have different included models. Check the selected variant's actual contents list and quantity per type.
Can BC847 replace BC547 directly?
Do not assume a direct replacement: BC847 listings use SOT-23, while BC547 listings are typically TO-92. Verify ratings, lead mapping and footprint first.
