Electrostatic Discharge Protection Diodes and Circuits

Choose ESD protection by circuit and interface

This collection combines standalone electrostatic-discharge (ESD) protection diodes and TVS arrays with complete communication and RF products whose listings mention built-in protection. A loose board-level suppressor, an RS485 converter and a wireless module serve different purposes. Compare the selected product rather than assuming every item here is a discrete protection circuit.

Standalone protection components

  • Data and interface lines: USBLC6-2SC6/P6 devices are listed for two data lines; PESD1CAN and PESD2CAN listings target CAN interfaces. TPD2E001, TPD1E01, TPD1E10 and four-channel TPD4E devices differ in line count, pinout and capacitance. Confirm each exact ordering code's electrical limits and package.
  • Voltage and polarity choices: PESD3V3/5V0/12V/15V/24V selections, SD05 versus SD12, ESD9-series choices, SMF13A through SMF17CA, and other suppressors have separately labeled models. A multi-model title usually offers a choice of one model, not a mixed pack. Unidirectional and bidirectional devices are not automatically interchangeable.
  • Footprint and quantity: SOD-323, SOD-523, SOD-923, SOT-23, SOT-363, SOT-666, SON, DFN and SMB packages appear in the listings. Some options specify quantities from 5 to 1,000 pieces, and a field named Color can mean model, marking or pack size. Check the exact selected variant and package drawing.

Equipment with advertised protection

USB-to-RS485/422 converters, E810-R RS485 hubs, SN65HVD230 CAN transceiver boards, a TXB0104 level-shifter board, an E22P LoRa module and P201Pro/P203Pro SDR modules also appear here. These are functional assemblies, not loose ESD diodes. Choose their exact chipset, channel arrangement, supply range, interface and model. One CAN-board title and its package text disagree about quantity, so confirm the selected offer rather than assuming two boards are supplied.

Selection checklist

For a discrete device, check reverse stand-off voltage, breakdown and clamping at stated test current, capacitance, leakage, protected line count, polarity, pin configuration and footprint against the interface and protected IC limits. For an assembly, consult its specific documentation for port protection, isolation, supply and connector details. Seller statements about kV levels, surge ratings, certification or originality should not be treated as verified collection-wide specifications.

Frequently asked questions

Is an RS485 hub an ESD protection diode? No. It is a communications assembly that may advertise ESD protection on its ports.

Can a nominal 5V part replace any other 5V ESD part? No. Clamping, capacitance, polarity, pinout and test conditions can differ substantially.

Does a title with five PESD codes include all five? The selectable variant identifies the model; check that choice and the listed pack quantity before ordering.

What if a listing's voltage or package fields disagree? Match the exact ordering code to its datasheet and request clarification before designing it into a board.
