ES9018K2M Audio DAC ICs, Boards and Playback Equipment
ES9018K2M digital-to-analog audio choices
Shop ES9018K2M audio DAC chips and related conversion boards alongside USB decoders, desktop headphone equipment and portable players. The collection includes different forms and several entirely different converter models, so a title containing “ES9018” does not establish that the selected item is a loose ES9018K2M IC. Choose by the actual variant, fitted hardware and signal interfaces. A DAC converts suitable digital audio into analog output; it is not an analog-to-digital recorder, a standalone headphone amplifier merely because its IC can create an analog signal, or a complete playback system when sold as a bare chip.
Choose the right delivery format first
- QFN-28 bare ES9018K2M chips: one listing offers 2pcs, 5pcs and 10pcs ES9018K2M options; another QFN28 chip listing offers 5pcs, 10pcs, 15pcs or 20pcs. These are surface-mount ICs for PCB assembly, not ready-to-connect modules. The quantity belongs to the selected variant, not the range in the listing heading. Confirm marking, package, condition and full part designation on the chosen offer before designing a footprint or repair.
- I2S DAC boards: listings identify an ES9018K2M decoder board with an NE5532 analog stage, 73 × 64 mm PCB and a stated AC 7–12 V three-wire supply arrangement. That particular board is a populated assembly rather than loose QFN chips, and its I2S digital input is not a USB, optical or coaxial socket. Do not copy its power requirement to another ES9018K2M product or attempt an unspecified wiring scheme from a collection description.
- USB DAC module: an SA9023/ES9018K2M module is offered as an external sound-card style board. Its USB front end, power and output format are board-specific. A headline reference to an audio amplifier does not prove a headphone-driving output stage or a particular power rating: verify the chosen board's actual analog connector, load capability and supply.
- Complete playback and headphone devices: the Nobsound M510 USB headphone DAC description names ES9018K2M with a CT7601 USB interface and MAX97220 headphone stage. Nobsound/Douk P1PLUS listings describe a tube preamp and headphone unit using ESS9018K2M, with Bluetooth and other selected input modes. A WONDOM BEA1 Bluetooth/USB receiver and an AIYIMA DAC-A2 Pro gaming DAC likewise mention ES9018K2M in their own signal chains. Their controls, enclosures, input ports, analog outputs and power supplies are properties of the finished units, not of a loose chip.
- Portable players and accessories: HiBy R4 listings use ES9018Q2M in headings but identify a four-chip ES9018C2M array in their detailed descriptions. Because those suffixes conflict, do not claim that the R4 contains four ES9018K2M chips. The color and 32 GB choices select finished players. The EVA carry case listed for an R4 contains a case only, not a player or DAC.
Make sense of the part-number differences
ES9018K2M, ES9018Q2M, ES9018C2M, ES9038Q2M and ES9038PRO are not synonyms. A K2M bare chip offer cannot be treated as a drop-in replacement for a Q2M/C2M player implementation or QFP-64 ES9038PRO. The ES9038PRO product in this collection specifically selects “1PCS ES9038PRO,” not an ES9018K2M. Another desktop decoder uses two ES9038Q2M chips and offers “No USB-B port” versus “Equipped with USB-B”; neither configuration is an ES9018K2M kit. Use the complete marked part number and manufacturer package drawing, not a short “ES9018” search term, when planning repair or production.
The R4 chip discrepancy is especially important for sourcing. Its headline uses ES9018Q2M, while the detailed specification and descriptive text call the array ES9018C2M ×4. This collection does not resolve the discrepancy. Confirm the actual device population with the individual seller or a trustworthy device-specific document if the silicon suffix matters. A finished player is not a source for a specific loose chip without verification, and claims for its battery life, output power, Bluetooth codecs or 32-bit/768 kHz playback cannot be transplanted to the bare ES9018K2M IC.
Trace the complete digital and analog signal path
An I2S-input DAC board expects a digital audio stream with matching clocking, word format and voltage levels; it does not accept analog RCA or USB packets directly simply because another product in this collection does. A USB DAC adds a USB audio receiver or controller upstream of the converter. A Bluetooth receiver adds radio and codec processing, while S/PDIF optical and coaxial ports require a suitable receiver and supported format. Downstream, filtering, buffering, line-driver and headphone-amplifier choices determine the analog outputs and usable loads. Evaluate the entire board or device, not the DAC chip name alone.
Input and output connectors are directional. On an ES9018K2M DAC implementation, digital audio enters via the fitted front-end interface and analog audio leaves the converter's output stage. The WONDOM BEA1 description offers Bluetooth or USB input and analog, coaxial or optical outputs, but those digital pass-through/output paths are features of that finished receiver, not inherent optical outputs on an ES9018K2M IC. The P1PLUS description says its optical output works with PC-USB input; do not assume an optical pass-through from every input. The DAC-A2 Pro listing distinguishes PC-USB sampling capability from its optical/coaxial input capability. Map the source and destination ports for the selected finished device before buying.
PCM, DSD, rate and measured-performance boundaries
Several listings quote PCM 32-bit/384 kHz, DSD128, DSD256 or higher source formats. Those statements relate to a specific complete device and input path, not a guaranteed end-to-end performance for every product bearing ES9018K2M. For instance, the P1PLUS description assigns PCM 384 kHz/32-bit and DSD256 to USB input while giving a different limit for coaxial and optical inputs. A USB interface, operating system, firmware and source format can constrain playback even where the DAC itself has a wider capability. Confirm the accepted input format, negotiated USB mode, digital receiver and actual analog-output specification of the particular device.
Bit depth and sampling rate describe supported digital data formats, not automatically the system's effective dynamic range, audible fidelity or load power. Claims such as 120 dB dynamic range, 0.0005% distortion or 525 mW into 32 ohms are conditional, product-specific seller figures with their own signal level, load, measurement bandwidth and test method. They are not chip-wide guarantees and should not be used to size a headphone load without the relevant full-system specification. Likewise, subjective descriptions of warmth, detail or “lossless” are not evidence of certified measurement performance.
Engineering checklist for chips and modules
- Match the component: check the exact ES9018K2M marking and QFN-28 package on a bare-IC option, and use its correct pinout, thermal pad and land pattern. Never substitute ES9038PRO QFP-64 or assume the different ES9018 suffixes share a footprint.
- Choose a front end: decide whether the source is I2S from a digital board, USB from a host, Bluetooth, optical or coaxial S/PDIF. An I2S-only board needs a suitable upstream digital-audio source; a USB board's USB controller and host compatibility belong to that board.
- Check output duty: distinguish line-level RCA/3.5 mm output from headphone drive and a 4.4 mm balanced output. Confirm whether the exact product has a separate headphone amplifier and the permitted output load; a connector shape alone does not establish level or balanced topology.
- Validate power and installation: a specific I2S board cites AC 7–12 V three-wire power; the AIYIMA finished device cites DC 5 V. Those requirements cannot be swapped. Check the board schematic or selected equipment label, grounding, isolation, heat dissipation and connector orientation. Have qualified personnel handle hazardous supply work.
- Confirm variant contents: for bare chips read 2/5/10 or 5/10/15/20 pieces; for HiBy choose actual color/storage; for another ES9038Q2M unit choose whether USB-B is fitted; for a VE Megatron S mixed listing, accessory and value-pack options are not interchangeable with the standalone DAC.
Other products appearing on this page
Product listings in the current collection also include FiiO K11, EPZ TP35 Pro with dual CS43198, VE Megatron S, an ES9038Q2M desktop unit, and ES9038PRO chips. They must be evaluated on their own model specifications rather than being called ES9018K2M boards. The later group of listings includes TDA1541 blank PCBs, TDA1541-family chips, semi-finished and finished TDA1541 decoders, TDA1387 substitutes and TDA1543-related devices. Those are a different converter lineage and some are blank or sold without the DAC chip. This guide identifies them honestly while leaving their existing product availability intact. A player carry case is merely an accessory. The selected product page determines the precise delivered hardware and pieces.
Where a source listing calls an ES9018K2M audio converter a “voltage regulator,” use its actual DAC function instead; generic catalog labels do not change the silicon's purpose. No origin, certification, authenticity, universal pin compatibility or benchmark performance is implied across these diverse offers. Check the selected variant, device markings and current manufacturer documentation before engineering a design or ordering a replacement.
