0.5mm FPC FFC Cables, ZIF Connectors & Adapters

0.5mm FPC/FFC cables, sockets and breakout adapters

This collection centers on 0.5mm-pitch flat-flex interconnects, including FFC ribbon cables, PCB-mounted FPC/FFC sockets, cable-extension couplers and breakout boards to 2.54mm headers. Many listings also contain 1.0mm variants, and two products are exclusively 1.25mm pitch, so select the exact variant rather than relying on the collection name.

Current product formats

  • FFC ribbon cables: A-type and selected B-type options, with contact counts from 4P to 80P depending on the listing.
  • Lengths: short 50–300mm cables, 500–1000mm extended lengths, and selected 2000mm or 3000mm options.
  • FPC/FFC sockets: flip-lock, under-clamshell and drawer-style PCB connectors with upper-contact or bottom-contact choices.
  • Extension boards: couplers for joining compatible flat cables, offered in multiple contact counts and 0.5mm or 1.0mm versions.
  • Breakout boards: 0.5mm FPC/FFC to 2.54mm DIP, female-header or DC3-style connections for test and prototyping.

How to choose

  1. Measure pitch: measure center-to-center contact spacing. 0.5mm, 1.0mm and 1.25mm products are not interchangeable.
  2. Count contacts: match the exact conductor count. Cable width alone is not a reliable identifier.
  3. Check contact orientation: A-type cables expose contacts on the same side at both ends; B-type cables expose them on opposite sides. Confirm the actual listing convention and connector orientation.
  4. Match socket contact side: upper-contact and bottom-contact ZIF sockets place the PCB contacts differently and cannot be selected by pitch and pin count alone.
  5. Confirm insertion direction and lock: flip-lock, clamshell and drawer styles have different footprints, actuator movement and cable insertion geometry.
  6. Select length: allow routing slack without folding below the cable’s permitted bend radius.
  7. Verify PCB footprint: compare pad pitch, mounting tabs, body dimensions, cable-entry direction and height before ordering a socket or adapter.

Important compatibility boundaries

An FFC with the correct pitch and conductor count can still be incompatible because of contact-side orientation, exposed-contact length, cable thickness, stiffener dimensions or pinout. Breakout boards change physical termination only; they do not convert voltage, signal protocol, impedance or pin assignment.

These products are not universal replacement cables for LCDs, cameras, touchscreens, laptops or Raspberry Pi camera interfaces. Equipment compatibility requires the original cable drawing or connector specification. MIPI, display and USB signals may also require controlled impedance and routing not established by a generic flat cable or breakout board.

Mixed-pitch products

Most large cable listings combine 0.5mm and 1.0mm variants. Two listings contain 1.25mm cables, while several adapter products are exclusively 1.0mm. Only options explicitly labeled 0.5mm belong to the core 0.5mm range.

Ratings and materials

The collection does not share one universal 127V rating, conductor plating, PET construction, temperature rating or CE/RoHS claim. Confirm electrical rating, cable thickness, current capacity, materials and compliance on the exact product and variant.

Frequently asked questions

Are FPC and FFC the same?

They describe related flat-flex technologies, but construction and connector requirements can differ. Match the dimensional specification.

How do I identify A-type versus B-type?

Lay the cable flat and compare the exposed contacts at both ends. Same-side contacts are commonly called A-type; opposite-side contacts are commonly called B-type.

Can a 1.0mm cable fit a 0.5mm connector?

No. The pitch and cable width differ.

Does a 2.54mm adapter make the cable breadboard-compatible?

It exposes conductors at a larger pitch, but you must still verify header population, pin order and signal suitability.

Can I replace a device cable using only length and pin count?

No. Also match pitch, contact side, cable thickness, exposed-contact dimensions and pinout.
