NE5532 Audio Op Amps, Preamp Boards and IC Kits

NE5532 audio op amps, circuit boards and mixed IC assortments

Explore bare NE5532P DIP-8 and selected NE5532 surface-mount IC offers, plus audio preamplifier boards, active crossover boards, an I2S DAC board, empty dual-op-amp PCBs, assorted IC kits and alternative replacement modules. These are distinct product types. An “NE5532” mention in a title may refer to an installed amplifier, one choice in a model menu, a single component within a multi-value kit, or merely the device a replacement claims to fit. Read the selected variant and package contents rather than assuming everything here is a loose NE5532 chip.

NE5532 versus NE5534: two channels are not one

NE5532 is a dual operational amplifier used in analog audio signal stages. NE5534 is a single-channel op amp family; a listing headed “NE5532P NE5534P” lets buyers select either model, not a mixed lot. In the dedicated DIP-8 offers, options distinguish NE5532P from NE5534P and separate 10-, 20-, 50- and, on one page, 100-piece choices. Verify both model and count. Never replace a dual NE5532 with a single NE5534 just because both are eight-pin packages; pin functions, compensation and external-circuit needs are different. The bare IC is a signal-processing building block requiring a correctly designed circuit and supply, not a powered standalone preamplifier or speaker driver.

NE5532 substitution also needs more than matching pin spacing. Compare the exact manufacturer's supply ratings, input common-mode envelope, output swing, load drive, input bias current, offset, closed-loop stability, gain, feedback components and decoupling. An apparent dual-DIP match does not prove a different JFET-input or bipolar-input op amp is compatible with the source impedance, rail voltage or DC budget of a host board. Sound-quality superlatives and seller “original” language are not circuit measurements or lot authentication.

Single-model options hidden inside broad component pages

Several pages combine NE5532P with many selectable electronics in a field labeled “Color.” One large menu also lists logic chips, NE555 timers, TL072, LM358, LM386, TL494, L293D, UC384x and VIPer22A; another has a shorter version of that menu. Choose the NE5532P DIP-8 option specifically when buying that chip. A separate mixed analog IC page offers NE5532P among LM311P, LM339N, LM358P, LM386N and LM393N; another 10-piece page lists NE5532P-10PCS among options with different part counts, including PC817C-50PCS. Do not apply a headline's “10PCS” to a differently labeled option. NE555, logic chips, motor drivers, optocouplers and switching-control chips are not interchangeable audio amplifiers.

Two pages advertise “2500PCS/REEL” or “2500PCS” across model choices including NE5532, LM393, LM358, NE555, TL082 and others. Their variant names show a selected model but do not independently resolve whether the selected NE5532 is a full reel, which package and packing method it uses, or whether a headline quantity applies to every variant. Obtain explicit confirmation of suffix, package, reel quantity and markings before a volume order. Another page headed “50PCS” offers an NE5532 option alongside LM258, LM311, LM324, LM339, LM358, LM393, LM386 and NE555; verify the selected package and count instead of assuming every model has identical specifications.

Multi-value kits: NE5532 is one constituent, not the whole box

Numerous 75-piece/15-value, 85-piece/10-value, 60-piece/10-value and 150-piece IC assortments mention NE5532 along with LM358, LM324, LM386, LM393, NE555, JRC4558, ULN2003, ULN2803, PC817, TDA2822, TDA2030 or other families. These boxes mix op amps with timers, transistor-array drivers, optocouplers, amplifier ICs and other functions. The total number of pieces is not the number of NE5532 devices. On a 150-piece listing, sockets are mentioned; verify the actual contents and number of sockets in that particular kit. A product labeled “85PCS 10 Types” is not equivalent to 85 NE5532 chips. Use the product's own bill of materials or confirmed packing list when a particular count is essential.

Populated audio boards versus an empty PCB

NE5532-based preamplifier listings include an XH-M164 multichannel tone/preamp board, an XH-A902 dual-channel board offered in one-, two- or three-board choices, a finished volume-controlled board available alone or with a case, and a microphone/front-stage preamp board. These are board-level products whose gain, connections and power requirements differ. The finished volume board's seller describes DC 8–20 V, about 10× amplification and one preamp board without a power adapter. The XH-A902 seller describes a roughly 50 × 30 × 15 mm dual-channel board, nominal 5× gain and DC 12–30 V, with one board per unit; it explicitly says a separate power amplifier is required to drive a speaker. The microphone/front-stage seller describes a roughly 50 × 50 mm board, about 23 mm high, AC 5–16 V or DC 6–24 V, a default approximately 5× gain and a package of one board plus two signal leads. These figures belong to their respective board descriptions, not to the bare NE5532 chip or every product in this collection. Check board terminals, polarity, load and actual as-built configuration before powering an assembled unit.

By contrast, two approximately 26 × 26 mm dual-op-amp DC preamp listings describe an empty board with an eight-pin socket and supporting components. The package is described as one board, not an NE5532 IC. Sellers mention use with NE5532, OPA2134, OPA2604 and others and a nominal threefold gain, but fitting an op amp, supply range, biasing and actual gain require review of the fitted components and schematic. A seller's ±5 to ±18 V board-level note is not a universal rating for every replacement chip. Do not order this PCB expecting a populated NE5532 preamp.

DAC and crossover boards have different signal jobs

Two ES9018K2M I2S decoder-board listings state that an NE5532 is used in their output stage. They describe a roughly 73 × 64 mm PCB, DC 9–15 V two-wire or AC 7–12 V three-wire power input and one board per package. That is a digital-to-analog converter assembly, not a bag of NE5532 chips; confirm supported I2S format, clocking, output connectors, power arrangement and downstream load before integrating it. The seller's imported-parts and “original” claims are not independent verification of component source or measured SNR.

Active crossover listings describe an NE5532-based 160 Hz two-way board and a selectable-frequency board whose options range from 72 Hz to 7234 Hz. The selectable values denote different crossover frequencies, not device quantities. A description mentions stereo four-output routing for low and mid/high bands, a roughly 93 × 63 × 19 mm board and dual AC 9–12 V transformer supply; the fixed-frequency board similarly names dual AC 9–12 V. These are crossover-board inputs, not the bare IC's supply rails. Sellers also claim “Linkwitz-Riley” and “12 dB/oct” together; confirm topology, transfer function, measured crossover point, slope, phase and output channel assignment for your speaker system rather than assuming an exact alignment from the headline alone. A crossover sends line-level filtered signals to suitable amplifier channels, not directly to passive speaker drivers.

Replacement and comparison products are not NE5532 ICs

Several listings name NE5532 as a possible replacement target while actually offering OPA2134PA, OPA2132, OPA1612 on a SOP-to-DIP adapter, OPA1622, OPA828-format modules, OPA627 adapter boards, OPA2604AQ, OPS/OPA200, HDAM-SC, OP8802, FET/triode HDAM and Oracle II 01/02 single- or dual-op-amp modules. Another offers NJM5532DD/JRC 5532DD in one- or five-piece options; a similar part name does not establish the exact die, suffix, provenance or drop-in behavior of NE5532P. For Oracle II and HDAM pages, select the single or dual version deliberately. A shipping-origin-only option does not turn all title references into selectable chips. Alternative modules can be taller or draw different supply current and may not fit the socket enclosure. Treat claims of “universal,” “plug and play,” original manufacturer, certification or instant sonic improvement as unverified seller statements until checked for the specific item and host circuit.

Practical selection checklist

  1. Identify the required assembly: loose dual NE5532 IC, single NE5534 IC, installed preamp, empty PCB, digital DAC, active crossover, assorted kit or alternate module.
  2. Read every option label for model, channel count, package, quantity and board/case configuration. A “Color” selector can encode an IC model; a “Ships From” choice is not a device selector.
  3. For loose ICs confirm manufacturer suffix, DIP or SMD footprint, pin-1 orientation, socket fit and any reel packing; never infer a 2500-piece reel from a shared headline alone.
  4. For a board confirm its own AC or DC input specification, polarity, connector pinout, source signal level, gain, output load and enclosure dimensions. Board supply numbers must not be transferred to the chip.
  5. For replacements compare supply and input/output operating limits, bias and offset, noise under real source impedance, feedback stability, capacitive loading and physical clearance; test the finished stage.
  6. For kits check a detailed parts breakdown. For critical stock check received markings, documentation and traceability instead of assuming seller originality claims prove authorized sourcing.

Frequently asked questions

Is NE5534P another package of NE5532P? No. NE5534 is a single-channel device while NE5532 is dual; they are not interchangeable merely because both may be DIP-8.

Does an 85-piece kit contain 85 NE5532 chips? No. The listed kits contain multiple device families. Confirm the actual breakdown on the selected kit.

Does the empty dual-op-amp board include an NE5532? Its package description states one empty board; no installed NE5532 is established.

Can a preamp board drive a loudspeaker directly? Do not assume so. The XH-A902 seller specifically calls for a separate power amplifier downstream.

Is an ES9018K2M board just an NE5532 preamp? No. It is described as an I2S-input DAC board that uses an NE5532 stage.

Do the 72–7234 Hz options change the op amp? They are labeled crossover-frequency selections, not different NE5532 chip variants.

Is every NE5532 replacement module universally compatible? No. Socket shape, channel architecture, supply rails, bias, load, stability and physical height all need verification.

Are “original,” CE or audiophile performance claims proven for this entire collection? No. Seller claims and generic catalog labels do not authenticate lots, certify the complete group or establish measured audio performance.

Choose the actual selected item first, then use its own electrical documentation and assembly details for the intended audio system. Products stay in this discovery collection without implying they share the same contents or operating limits.
