SMD NPN Transistors and Related Components
Browse surface-mount NPN bipolar transistors for small-signal, medium-power and selected RF applications. Listings include SOT-23 BC847, BC817, MMBT3904, MMBT5551, MMBT4401 and S8050 families, compact SOT-323 BC846BW, and larger SOT-89, SOT-223 or TO-252 device options. Not every product or variant is an NPN SMD BJT: shared menus also include PNP devices, digital transistors, regulators and mixed component books; a few through-hole TO-92/TO-220 products appear too. Verify the chosen model and package.
Browse by package and device role
- SOT-23 and SOT-323 small-signal BJTs: BC847A/B/C, BC817-25/-40, BC846BW, MMBT3904, MMBT5551, MMBT4401, MMBTA42/A44 and S9013/S8050 appear in individual packs or model-selection menus. Marking codes such as 1AM, 1F, G1, 2X or J3Y are clues, not a substitute for the selected part number and manufacturer's marking table.
- Complementary or PNP choices: MMBT3906, MMBT4403, MMBT5401, MMBT2907A, MMBTA92/A94, BC856/BC857, S8550/SS8550, B772 and BCX53 occur alongside NPN models in shared listings. Select the polarity explicitly; a headline saying NPN does not turn a PNP option into an NPN device.
- Power, RF and special-function parts: 2SD882, 2SD1898, 2SC4672, BCP56/BCX56, MJD41C and RF-oriented 2SC3356 or BFR93A call for their own current, gain, frequency, thermal and footprint checks. DTC143 digital transistors contain built-in bias resistors, so they are not direct substitutes for bare BJTs. The M1104 listing mixes “MOSFET” and “NPN” terminology; confirm its actual device type before design use.
- Mixed kits and non-SMD overlap: a 350-piece SMD kit contains transistor, MOSFET and diode types, while the 60-kind SOT-23 sample book lists PNP BJTs, 2N7002 MOSFETs, TL431, diodes and other devices. A broad 24-option S8050 listing even offers XC6206 regulator and BAT54S or BZX84 diode choices. Separate TO-92 transistor kits and a TO-220 2SC1827 listing are through-hole, not SMD.
How to choose
- Identify the full selected model, polarity and technology: bare NPN or PNP BJT, resistor-equipped digital transistor, MOSFET, diode or regulator. “Color,” “Size” and “Voltage” option labels often encode model number or pack quantity rather than literal color, dimension or verified voltage.
- Match the manufacturer's datasheet ratings to the circuit: collector-emitter voltage, collector current and safe operating area, gain at the intended current, saturation or switching performance, frequency response and temperature-dependent dissipation. For MOSFETs, diodes or regulators use their own relevant parameters instead.
- Check SOT-23, SOT-323, SOT-89, SOT-223 and TO-252 pad layouts and pin order before substitution. A through-hole TO-92/TO-220 part is not a footprint replacement for a surface-mount device.
- Confirm the selected quantity, whether 20/50/100 pieces or a 3000-piece reel, and whether the product is a one-model pack or a true mixed sample kit. Seller “original” or generic rating claims do not independently establish provenance or the selected device's specifications.
Frequently asked questions
Is MMBT3906 an NPN option?
No. MMBT3906 is a PNP-family option paired with NPN MMBT3904 in several menus. Check the selected variant.
Does a “Voltage” option of 3000PCS-Full Reel specify voltage?
No. In those listings it identifies package quantity. Verify electrical ratings from the specific part's datasheet.
Are all sample-book parts transistors?
No. The listed SOT-23 books and 350-piece kits include diodes, MOSFETs and other components. Read the included-model list before ordering.
Can a DTC143 replace an ordinary NPN BJT?
Not automatically. Its built-in resistor network changes input and switching behavior; compare the exact circuit and datasheet first.
