Check whether a variant names PC817 or another family member, its transfer-ratio grade suffix, physical outline, pinout and input/output characteristics. Similar naming does not establish drop-in equivalence, and generic seller fields calling an optocoupler a voltage regulator or drive IC are not its circuit classification.
Isolation modules and assortment kits
PC817/EL817 signal boards have separate 3–5V, 12V or 24V input selections, one or more channels, and sometimes rail-mount housings; the selected voltage describes a module input option, not an adjustable rating of a bare PC817. Some headings mention PC817B alongside UPC1678G, INA219AIDR, AT89C2051, MOSFET or controller choices. Only the explicitly selected PC817B option is a PC817-family offer; the other selectable devices are not optocouplers. Another menu includes 4N25, 6N137, TLP250, MOC30xx and HCPL3120, which have different output functions.
