Capacitors: Electrolytic, Film, Motor & Ceramic
Compare capacitors by construction, circuit role and exact variant
This collection brings together aluminum electrolytic capacitors, conductive-polymer and solid electrolytic options, CBB60/CBB61 AC motor capacitors, MKP and polyester film parts, X2-labeled suppression capacitors, ceramic capacitors, silver mica and an adjustable trimmer. Despite the original PET collection name, these products are not all PET or polyester film. A capacitor stores electrical charge, but matching capacitance alone does not make different dielectric, polarity, voltage, impedance or duty types interchangeable.
What is in the collection?
- Aluminum electrolytic: through-hole radial cans and value assortments include low-voltage and selected 400–450 V listings, some with low-ESR or audio descriptions. Check the exact variant's µF, working voltage, polarity, body diameter, height, lead spacing, ripple rating and temperature. Large-value assortments and mixed-weight packs do not specify a single replacement part.
- Solid/polymer electrolytic: selected low-ESR DIP and polymer listings offer different capacitance and voltage choices. Their ESR, ripple current, leakage, lifetime, dimensions and polarity need part-level confirmation; “solid” is not a universal replacement specification. One long solid-electrolytic listing includes 0402 ceramic-looking options mixed into the variant list, so verify each selected option's technology rather than assuming the title covers it.
- Film and PET/polyester: polyester 100 V and MKP polypropylene radial or axial listings have different dielectric and mounting formats. Check value code, tolerance, voltage and pitch or axial span. The 50-piece polyester selection is distinct from the axial MKP audio listings; neither automatically suits mains use.
- Motor-run and X2-labeled: CBB60/CBB61 listings include many 450 VAC motor-capacitor values, terminals and screw-mount styles. Confirm continuous motor-run duty, exact µF, tolerance, frequency, dimensions, terminal arrangement and equipment requirement. Separately verify X2 approval and marking for any across-line suppression capacitor; 275 VAC text alone is not evidence of certification.
- Ceramic, mica and trimmer: through-hole ceramic assortments, 0805 MLCC, high-voltage disc ceramic, silver mica and small adjustable-pF trimmers serve distinct purposes. MLCC effective capacitance may change under DC bias; trimmer adjustment range is not a fixed capacitance or power rating. A 4 kV–30 kV marketplace title is not a rating for every ceramic choice.
Selection workflow
- Identify the circuit function: DC bulk storage, high-frequency decoupling, signal coupling, speaker crossover, motor running, AC-line suppression or adjustable tuning.
- Choose the correct technology and polarity before comparing capacitance, tolerance and the exact selected variant's DC or AC voltage rating; do not equate DC with AC voltage.
- Check ripple current, ESR, leakage, temperature, lifetime and DC-bias or pulse behavior where the application demands them.
- Match radial/axial/SMD footprint, lead pitch, diameter and height, or motor mounting and terminals; check pack quantity separately from electrical values.
- For mains and motor equipment, verify actual safety approvals, duty and equipment documentation. Do not use a generic seller title as wiring instructions.

Frequently asked questions
Are the products in this collection all PET capacitors?
No. PET refers to polyester film, while this collection also contains many electrolytic, polypropylene, ceramic and motor-capacitor listings. Read the individual product and selected variant.
Can a polarized electrolytic replace an MKP crossover capacitor with the same µF?
Not automatically. Polarity, ESR, tolerance, voltage and AC signal requirements differ; use the circuit's specified technology.
Does a 450 VAC CBB60 or CBB61 listing mean it is an X2 safety capacitor?
No. Motor-run application and across-line suppression are separate functions with different required markings and approvals.
Do brand names or “original” in a listing prove manufacturer origin?
No. Verify manufacturer part number and authorized sourcing independently when provenance matters.
