G24D G24Q LED PL Replacement Lamps
G24D and G24Q LED PL replacement lamps
This collection contains horizontal LED replacement lamps for plug-in compact fluorescent fixtures. The main choices are G24D two-pin and G24Q four-pin bases, with selected listings also referring to GX24Q. It also includes one G23 two-pin lamp and one mixed G24/E27 LED corn-lamp listing. These are lamps, not a range of standalone lamp holders.
Products and options in this collection
- G24D two-pin LED lamps: horizontal PL-style replacements in selected 5W, 7W, 9W and 11W variants.
- G24Q four-pin LED lamps: selected 5W, 7W, 9W and 11W options, with some product titles or options also using GX24Q terminology.
- Mixed G24D/G24Q listings: choose the exact two-pin or four-pin variant rather than relying on the shared product image.
- G24 or E27 corn lamps: one listing provides separate G24 and E27 base options from 7W to 18W with different overall lengths.
- G23 outlier: one 7W G23 two-pin horizontal lamp is included but is not a G24-family base.
G24D and G24Q are not interchangeable
G24D uses a two-pin interface, while G24Q uses four pins. Pin count, keying and electrical arrangement differ. Suffixes such as G24d-1, G24d-2, G24d-3, G24q-1, G24q-2 and G24q-3 can identify different keyed versions associated with particular lamp classes. A similar body shape or shared “G24” label does not prove that a lamp will enter, lock into or operate correctly in a given socket.
How to select the correct LED PL lamp
- Read the full base code: identify the old lamp and socket as G24D, G24Q, GX24Q, G23 or E27. Confirm pin count and any numbered keying suffix.
- Identify the fixture circuit: determine whether it contains a magnetic ballast, electronic ballast, direct mains connection or another driver.
- Check the product’s installation method: several lamps in this collection explicitly require ballast removal. Do not assume every LED PL lamp uses the same wiring method.
- Match input voltage: product claims and available voltage ranges vary. Use the exact product and variant specification for the intended supply.
- Compare dimensions: wattage options can have different lengths. Check horizontal clearance, socket orientation and whether the lamp base rotates.
- Select output options: choose the required wattage, warm or cool light option and package quantity shown on the product page.
Ballast-bypass safety
Removing a fluorescent lamp does not necessarily remove its ballast from the circuit. A direct-wire LED replacement may require the ballast to be disconnected, while another lamp may be intended for a specified ballast. There is no universal bypass wiring pattern because fixture and ballast circuits vary. Follow the exact lamp, ballast and luminaire instructions, isolate power and use a qualified electrician for rewiring.
Compatibility boundaries
Do not infer compatibility from wattage equivalence, PL-C naming, pin spacing or lamp appearance. Confirm base code, number of pins, keying, supply voltage, ballast compatibility, physical length and orientation. G23, G24D, G24Q, GX24Q and E27 are distinct interfaces. Electrical ratings, efficacy, color rendering, service life and certifications are product-specific and are not uniform across this collection.
Typical applications
These lamps may suit clearly identified recessed downlights, office fixtures, wall lights and other luminaires that use the selected base and have a compatible circuit. Application labels alone do not establish fit; fixture wiring and available space must be verified.
Frequently asked questions
Can a G24Q four-pin lamp replace a G24D two-pin lamp?
No. The pin count, keying and circuit arrangement differ. Match the complete base designation.
Do these LED lamps work with the existing ballast?
Many listings explicitly call for ballast removal, but requirements vary by lamp. Check the individual product instructions and the installed ballast before purchase.
Are G24Q and GX24Q always interchangeable?
No. Similar naming does not guarantee identical keying, contact geometry or electrical compatibility. Verify the exact lamp and socket codes.
Can I select wattage by fluorescent-equivalent wording alone?
No. Also verify actual LED wattage, input voltage, dimensions, light output and fixture limits.
Are E27 options compatible with G24 sockets?
No. E27 is a screw base and G24 is a keyed pin base. The mixed listing offers separate variants; it does not make the interfaces interchangeable.
