Resistor Networks & Arrays, SMD, SIP and DIP
Resistor networks and arrays for compact multi-resistor circuits
Resistor networks combine multiple resistive elements in one package to reduce PCB area, placement count and component handling. This collection focuses on 0402×4 and 0603×4 SMD arrays, 16P8R chip networks, 1206-based arrays, and 4- to 10-pin SIP/DIP through-hole networks in many resistance values and pack quantities.
Product formats in this collection
- 0402×4 SMD arrays: commonly listed as 8P4R or 2×4P, with four resistors in an eight-terminal package.
- 0603×4 SMD arrays: four-element chip networks, also listed as 8P4R, 4D03 or 1206/3216 overall formats.
- 16P8R arrays: eight resistors in a 16-terminal SMD package, including RTA02-8D and YC248-style listings.
- 0603×2 and 1206×5 arrays: product-specific two- or five-element configurations requiring footprint verification.
- SIP/DIP networks: 4- to 10-pin through-hole packages offered in multiple resistance values and pin counts.
- Assortment kits: mixed SIP network values for prototyping, service stock and circuit experiments.
Independent versus commoned networks
An independent or isolated array contains separate resistors with two terminals per element. An 8P4R device usually describes eight terminals and four resistors, but the exact internal circuit must still be confirmed. A commoned or bussed SIP network connects one end of several resistors to a shared pin and is often used for pull-up, pull-down or LED-current-limiting groups. Product titles using “exclusion” are typically translated marketplace wording and do not by themselves prove the internal topology.
How to select a resistor network
- Choose the circuit topology: independent, commoned, bussed or another documented arrangement.
- Count elements and terminals: distinguish resistor count from pin count, such as 8P4R or 16P8R.
- Match the footprint: verify overall package dimensions, terminal pitch, land pattern, pin numbering and orientation mark.
- Select resistance: read R, K, M and decimal notation carefully. Codes such as 102, 103, 472 and 473 commonly represent 1kΩ, 10kΩ, 4.7kΩ and 47kΩ, but confirm the listing.
- Check tolerance: this collection includes product-level 1% and 5% claims; do not infer tolerance from package size.
- Verify power: determine whether the rating is per resistor, per package or subject to total-package derating.
- Check temperature behavior: use documented TCR, operating temperature and tracking data when matching matters.
- Confirm quantity: listings range from small packs to bulk quantities and may share many resistance variants.
SMD package boundaries
“0402×4” and “0603×4” describe element or array formats, not guaranteed land-pattern compatibility. Overall body dimensions, terminal geometry and manufacturer footprint can differ. A 0603×4 array may be described as 1206 or 3216 overall, but these labels do not establish electrical topology, power, tolerance or pinout.
SIP and DIP selection
Through-hole networks are offered with 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10 pins, often at a stated 2.54mm pitch. Equal pin count and resistance do not guarantee interchangeability. Confirm whether the device is commoned or isolated, locate pin 1 and any common terminal, and compare body height, lead spacing and schematic before installation.
Electrical and thermal limits
Calculate power for every resistor and check the package’s total dissipation and derating conditions. A 1/16W statement may apply to each element only under defined test conditions. Working voltage, overload, pulse capability and TCR are separate specifications. Resistor arrays are not automatically precision ratio networks; ratio accuracy and TCR tracking require explicit product data.
Typical applications
- Logic pull-up and pull-down groups
- Parallel LED current-limiting channels
- Bus termination and signal conditioning
- Compact interface networks
- Microcontroller I/O biasing
- Consumer electronics, control boards and repair stock
Collection boundaries
Resistance options from 0Ω jumpers through megohm values appear across shared listings. A 0Ω array is used for routing or configuration and is not a precision resistor. References to metal film, specific model codes or named manufacturers apply only where stated on the product page and do not establish authenticity, certification or cross-brand equivalence. Product membership has been preserved; verify the chosen variant’s topology, footprint and rating before ordering.

Frequently asked questions
Is an 8P4R array four resistors?
Usually, but confirm the product schematic: the code generally means eight terminals and four resistive elements.
Are commoned and isolated networks interchangeable?
No. Their internal connections and PCB routing are different.
Does 0603×4 fit every 1206 array footprint?
No. Compare the exact dimensions, terminal layout and recommended land pattern.
Does 1% tolerance make an array a precision ratio network?
No. Ratio accuracy and temperature tracking must be specified separately.
Can I choose by pin count alone?
No. Match resistance, topology, pinout, pitch, dimensions and electrical ratings.
Is the power rating for each resistor?
Not always. Check whether the listing states per-element or total-package power and apply its derating conditions.
