SMD 2835 LEDs: choose the component or finished light you actually need

Explore bare 2835 surface-mount emitters, flexible LED tape, injection-molded sign modules, assembled lamps and related lighting accessories. “2835” generally identifies the nominal LED package footprint, approximately 2.8 × 3.5 mm, not a common supply voltage, fixed luminous output, identical color rendering or universal circuit design. A bare 2835 LED, a 5 V USB strip, a 12/24 V constant-voltage tape and an AC mains strip cannot share the same power connection. Some listings mention 2835 in a comparison or headline while the selected option is 3014, 3528, 5050, 5054, 5630 or 5730, or supplies only a connector, sleeve, controller or power accessory. Select by the exact variant, rather than treating every result as an individual 2835 diode.

Bare emitters and populated boards

Loose 2835/PLCC-style SMD LED bead listings offer 50-, 100- and 200-piece lots, including white, warm white, neutral white, cool white, red, green, blue and yellow selections. Some nominal 3 V, 6 V, 9 V, 18 V, 36 V and even 54 V “2835” offerings refer to different internal emitter constructions or assembled light-source configurations. The suffix, measured forward-voltage range, recommended test current, polarity, color and package drawing must come from the selected part's own documentation; do not drive an unknown diode directly from a nominal-voltage adapter. Use appropriate current control and account for power dissipation, junction temperature and PCB heat spreading. At fixed current, LED forward voltage varies with temperature and manufacturing spread.

One yellow 2835 listing calls out approximately 2.0–2.6 V in its technical text but also shows 3.0–3.6 V in a generic specification field; another white listing's 200-piece title has a 100-piece text fragment. These contradictions should be resolved with the selected SKU and supplier specification before volume assembly. A lumen figure from a bead listing cannot be multiplied by an LED-per-metre count to guarantee the installed strip's output: drive current, optical losses, heat sinking and binning differ. “0.2 W,” “0.5 W” and “1 W” are variant-specific claims, not properties of every 2835 package.

Round or aluminum LED light-source plates and ring boards appear in 3 W through higher wattage options, including DC 5 V ring assemblies and AC 220–240 V integrated-driver-style replacement boards. Some variants explicitly say “LED DC 5V Driver,” “2M” cable or “5V 2A EU Plug”; those may be the driver, cable or plug rather than the light board. Check the selected diameter, hole pattern, color temperature, actual input type, insulation and thermal mounting. “No need driver” on an AC board means its driver circuitry is integrated as described, not that exposed mains pads are safe to handle or install without a suitable enclosure.

Flexible tape by electrical supply

  • USB / DC 5 V: cabinet, TV-backlight and reading-light strips are sold from about 0.5 m to 5 m, with some listings extending to 10–15 m. Variants can be USB lead, bare two-pin wire, DC plug, switch, touch dimmer, PIR or hand-scan sensor, AA battery box or button-battery arrangement. A “battery-powered” product title does not guarantee the batteries ship with the selected variant. USB port current, wire loss and strip demand must be checked together; long strips may dim or change color along their length.
  • DC 12 V and DC 24 V: many 2835 tape listings let you choose voltage, LED density, color and length separately. Typical choices name 60, 120, 180, 240 or 480 LEDs/m, different PCB widths such as 4, 5, 8, 10 and 15 mm, and segments from 0.5 to 5 m. Other listings offer 10/15/20 m as multiple 5 m reels rather than one continuous tape. A 12 V selection must not be connected to a 24 V supply, nor may a 5 V tape be substituted because its LEDs look similar. Match the labeled constant-voltage supply and polarity to the selected assembly, and size the supply for the strip's specified watts per metre plus margin.
  • AC 110 V or 220–240 V strip: several long-run 2835 products are mains-rated flexible tapes sold with EU plug, switch, dimmer or two-wire termination options; some 0.5–50 m lengths are listed. These are not low-voltage ribbon lights. Cut intervals, power entry, end termination, insulation, mounting, enclosure and regional electrical requirements depend on the exact assembly. Do not splice or feed these from an ordinary DC strip controller. Mains installation and modification require qualified personnel and the product-specific installation instructions. “With plug,” “no switch” and “with dimmer” are different deliveries, not a guarantee that every selection is a ready-to-use kit.

Density, length and color are independent selections

A “5M 300/600/1200 LEDs” headline might represent 60, 120 or 240 LEDs/m, not a single product that changes brightness automatically. Listings with 120/240/480 LEDs per metre may also change PCB width, voltage and power draw. An option labeled “5m (one reel)” is not the same physical delivery as “20m (four × 5m).” Look for the selected length and reel count before planning a continuous architectural run. For 12/24 V tape, voltage drop depends on length, conductor width, copper weight, power per metre and feed geometry. Repeating a long run from one end without engineering the feed can produce significant output variation and excess heating; follow the specific strip and supply design guidance.

Single-color options include red, green, blue, pink, purple, golden yellow, ice blue and white CCT choices near 2700–6500 K. “Natural,” “neutral,” “warm” and “cold” are labels, not precise color-bin certifications. Some Auxmer listings advertise adjustable WW/CW color temperature and high-CRI or RA98 options; their specified CRI, binning and dimming method apply only to the selected product, not to other tape on this page. A plain red or blue strip is not automatically RGB-addressable. In mixed 5050/5054/2835 menus, verify the selected LED package and PCB width; a 5050 RGB strip may require a multichannel controller while a single-color 2835 strip may only require a correctly rated supply and switching method.

Some 3 mm/5 mm/8 mm narrow 5 V tape advertises “one LED per cut,” while 12/24 V and AC variants can have different cut-group lengths. Cut only on the selected strip's marked locations; this collection does not promise a common cut pitch. Verify solder-pad size and connector geometry. “USB connector” in a variant may be a lead or accessory, not the same as a 5 m strip. Test a short segment with the proper supply before committing a multi-reel lighting layout.

Ingress protection, encapsulation and thermal design

Listings distinguish uncoated IP20/IP21/IP30-style open strips from IP65, IP67 and IP68-labeled coated or sleeved versions. An IP claim on the flexible strip does not automatically cover exposed cut ends, connectors, plugs, controller, supply or a field splice. Check the selected option and installation instructions for water exposure, sealing method and allowable immersion duration; “waterproof” is not permission to submerge a mains-powered assembly or to use an indoor supply outdoors. A separate 6/8/12 mm silicone-neon listing offers “Separate Neon” sleeve variants and an “only 12V 2835 strip” variant. The sleeve-only option does not emit light, and the strip-only option does not include a diffuser. A completed neon effect may need both, correctly sized and mounted.

Waterproof coatings and silicone diffusers can retain heat. The allowable power density depends on mounting surface and airflow. An aluminum channel can improve heat management when compatible with the strip, but an adhesive-backed PCB on an insulating surface can run hotter. Evaluate the completed light at full output and warm ambient, not just by a marketing lifetime such as “50,000 h.” The life of the finished system also depends on driver, connectors, solder joints, moisture sealing and operating temperature. Supplier certifications and protection ratings in individual listings are not independent approvals for every variant in this collection.

Addressable strips and complete-set boundaries

A few DC 24 V WS2811 “running water” or sequential-flow tape listings include variants such as “10m LED Strip Only,” “Touch Control Only,” “10m Strip Control,” “10m Full Set,” a controller-only selection, and 24 V power-supply-only choices. Those are materially different purchases. Confirm controller protocol, pixel grouping, channel/color format, supply voltage and current capacity for the chosen strip. A package described as RGB on a multi-option page should not be assumed to contain independent red/green/blue control unless the selected variant specifies it. “Pixel” in a headline can refer to LED count rather than individually addressable points; review segment behavior and controller compatibility before ordering.

Non-addressable single-color tape uses a different control approach from a WS2811 pixel strip. A USB IR/RF/Bluetooth controller listing is a controller, not necessarily LED tape; its “RGB” mode and connector count must match the strip it drives. A remote-control building-block lighting kit in this collection similarly offers individual 1×1/1×2/1×4 illuminated pieces, 5-piece cable packs, USB connectors, master machine and remote sets as separate selections. A cable or master-machine option is not a complete 2835 lighting kit by itself.

Finished lamps and installation-specific products

G4, G9, E12/E14/E17/E27/B22, R7S 78/118 mm, 2G7/2GX7 and GX23 LED lamps appear alongside recessed downlights, cabinet sensors and T10/W5W automotive wedge bulbs. Base geometry, operating voltage and physical clearance are more important than the emitter package. G4 menus include DC 12 V, AC/DC 12 V and 220 V choices, some also switching between 2835 and 3014 chips. G9 and E27/B22/E14 products have wattage, color and pack-size options. A 2G7 versus 2GX7 compact-fluorescent replacement, or a GX23 bulb at 110 V versus 220 V, must be chosen by the exact socket and ballast/fixture configuration; same-pin appearance does not establish electrical compatibility. A T10/W5W “CANBUS/no error” title does not guarantee no dashboard warning on every vehicle.

Recessed 2835 downlights have body-color and light-color variants and require the actual cutout, supply and driver arrangement to be matched. An E27 mains bulb cannot be treated as a bare PCB chip; conversely an AC replacement light engine is not necessarily safe for an exposed lamp socket. Plant-light strips can have UV/blue choices; spectral claims should be verified for the chosen emitter and application instead of applying white-light CCT advice. One unrelated portable solar-panel kit and a decorative crystal-ball night light are present in the search-oriented assortment; neither is a bare 2835 emitter merely because it appears here.

Ordering checklist

  1. Confirm delivery level: loose LED bead, populated light board, flexible tape, neon sleeve only, power lead/controller, bulb, luminaire or complete kit.
  2. Read the selected voltage and supply type: 5 V USB, 12/24 V DC and 110/220–240 V AC products are not interchangeable.
  3. Confirm exact LED package, color/CCT, LEDs per metre, PCB width, marked cut interval, reel count and power per metre. A mixed-title 5050/5054/2835 product delivers only the selected type.
  4. Check ingress protection of the finished installation, not just the strip's label; identify what is included at cut ends, plugs and supply.
  5. For addressable tape verify controller protocol and whether the chosen variant is strip-only, controller-only, power-only or a full set. For lamps verify base, fixture voltage and mechanical fit.
  6. For bare parts and assembled strips use the selected device's current and thermal specifications; do not transfer generic brightness, lifetime, certification or “waterproof” claims across the collection.

Choose the electrical system and physical delivery first, then refine color, length and lighting effect. These distinctions make the existing product choices easier to compare without changing collection membership.
