SS3602 Discrete Dual Op Amps and Audio Alternatives
SS3602 discrete dual op amps and related audio modules
This collection includes SS3602-labelled dual discrete operational-amplifier modules and selected alternatives for audio signal paths. It also contains products that compare themselves with SS3602, rather than selling an SS3602. Some pages let you choose SS3601, SS2590, SS2598, MUSES02 or an entirely different HDAM-style module instead. A model mentioned in a title is not necessarily the item shipped. Use the selected variant, channel count, footprint, actual supply documentation and physical dimensions to decide whether a part belongs in your circuit.
Understand the device class before buying
SS3602 is described in seller offers as a dual-channel discrete op-amp module for a dual-op-amp socket; SS3601 is presented separately as a single-channel module. These are small analog amplifier assemblies made from discrete components, not a complete headphone amplifier, speaker amplifier, DAC or sound card. A dual-in-line pin arrangement can make an audio stage look replaceable, but pin resemblance alone cannot establish electrical stability, supply compatibility or enclosure clearance. An I/V converter after a DAC, an active low-pass filter, a headphone preamplifier and a voltage buffer present different impedances, feedback networks and dynamic requirements. Evaluate the actual host schematic rather than replacing parts on the basis of audio marketing or a shared DIP-8 outline.
A functioning comparison should consider whether the host uses a single or dual op amp, pin assignment, positive and negative supply rails at the socket, input common-mode limits, output swing into the real load, bias current with source impedance, DC offset, noise spectrum, gain-bandwidth and phase margin. Also inspect decoupling, feedback compensation and the available height around the socket. A discrete module can be wider and taller than an eight-pin molded IC and can collide with neighboring parts or a case lid. An SOIC-labelled option is not physically equivalent to a plug-in DIP-8 module. Power down and verify orientation before installation; changes to an appliance are at the owner's risk and are not a universal plug-and-play upgrade.
Listings with an SS3602 selection
Several pages explicitly offer SS3602 1pcs, 1pcs SS3602 or 2pcs SS3602 as selectable variants. Another offers 2pcs MUSES02 on the same page; selecting MUSES02 does not deliver SS3602. Mixed model menus offer SS3601 single, SS2590 single or double, SS2598 dual and SS3602 dual separately. Some also offer SS3602AR SOIC or “SS3602 metal” alongside a larger SS3602 module. Do not assume those suffixes, encapsulations and footprints are identical, or that selecting one model supplies the whole group. A separate listing's one-piece packaging statement includes one SS3602-labelled dual module and a DIP-8 socket; that package statement applies only to that particular offer, not the entire collection. Another page says “2pcs SS3602” but gives no full technical sheet; the count is two units, not a specification of per-channel performance.
Some standalone SS3602-labelled pages provide only a model name and generic reseller metadata. Where there is no traceable manufacturer documentation, lot information or test report, do not infer guaranteed origin, grade, certification, output current or performance merely from “imported,” “original,” “audiophile-grade,” a national origin field or a product photograph. One listing carries a “CE” field and discusses 140 dB open-loop gain and a typical offset below 250 µV at ±12 V; these are that seller's statements, not independent certification or measured performance of every item on this page. Their own description also describes one socket in the pack. For critical repair, request provenance and compare the actual device to the manufacturer's current datasheet and physical outline.
Replacement-style modules that are not SS3602
HA4212 / HA-4212: several products call this a fully discrete dual module and market it as an “upgrade” over SS3602 or AD8620BR. The selected default product remains HA4212, not an SS3602. One seller reports a roughly 14.4 × 15.5 × 15.2 mm module, ±18 V as a claimed upper supply figure, THD+N of 0.0003% at 1 kHz, 15 mA Class-A output current and 65 mA maximum output current. Another version discusses a custom short-format requirement and host modifications for an XD05-type device. These claims are seller-specific, and the phrase “6V to ±18V” mixes single- and dual-rail notation, so it cannot responsibly be promoted as a universal safe range. Reconcile the particular board's positive and negative rails, clearance and measured stability before substitution. Do not repeat its subjective listening comparisons as proven improvements.
HDAM-SC / HDAM-SE and KM2: other products are HDAM-style or replica-inspired single/dual modules whose titles cite SS3601 or SS3602 as possible comparison or replacement targets. The HDAM-SC menu offers Single OPAMP versus Dual OP AMP versions, with variants numbered “1” whose configuration is not fully explained. HDAM-SE offers single or dual versions, and KM2 pages may add color, straight-plug, patch or duplicate-looking options. Select the correct channel count and mounting format. Seller references to Marantz describe claimed circuit inspiration; they do not establish authorization, affiliation or identical manufacturer technology. Advertised broad operating-voltage expressions such as “±8V and 24V” or “+-9 and 24V” are ambiguous and differ across boards; do not transfer them to SS3602 or another HDAM product.
V6, VV8, OP06AT, AMP9928AT and SA200: these are separately named dual-op-amp products or modules marketed against SS3602. Their default or color option does not secretly become SS3602 because SS3602 appears in a replacement list. An OP06AT page offers versions labelled “1” and “2”; the description identifies a gold-seal-module version versus another core version but does not give a complete verified parts specification. AMP9928AT and HDAM9038 pages have their own models and sparse or highly subjective descriptions. SA200 has a dual-board option and a seller-quoted supply and distortion figure; the metadata lists an unusual noise unit and an “open-loop gain” figure without enough conditions to use as an engineering guarantee. Keep each board's supply, package, channel count and evidence separate.
OPHDAM / Crown-labelled modules: a mixed page offers SS3601 or SS3602 under an OPHDAM/HDAMSS title. Its long description calls the product second-hand/disassembled in places, despite a generic “new” metadata field, and states mutually inconsistent maximum output currents and supply ranges, including ±18 V and ±28 V. The selected SS3602 label there does not prove that this is a new, traceable Sparkos Labs module. Treat “Crown,” HDAMSS and model-like strings as the seller's particular offer rather than manufacturer-confirmed equivalence. Ask for exact photographed item, condition and electrical documentation before using it for a controlled production build.
Single-versus-dual is a functional boundary
A single-channel discrete module cannot directly replace a dual op amp in one dual socket simply because both have eight pins or a seller writes “SS3601/SS3602.” Conversion with an adapter changes mechanical height and electrical routing and must be verified against the host circuit. Conversely, a dual module should not be installed into a single-channel footprint as though unused pins were irrelevant. Mixed menus explicitly distinguish SS3601singlechannel, SS2590singlechannel, SS2590Dualchannel, SS2598Dualchannel and SS3602Dualchannel. Some variant fields simply say “A1,” “A2,” “A3,” “A4,” “black,” “silver” or “gold seal”; those alone do not define the channel count, device or physical orientation. Confirm the individual product's option mapping before buying.
Application and performance boundaries
For a DAC I/V stage, look at the converter's output current, feedback impedance, required compliance, settling and stability with its filter components. For a buffer or preamplifier, check output swing, load capacitance and DC offset as well as the power rails. For a headphone circuit, distinguish an op-amp voltage stage from the actual output driver: a quoted op-amp current figure is not a guaranteed power rating for driving headphones, and the “Maximum Power Per Channel: NO POWER” metadata is not a meaningful measured audio output specification. A low distortion figure at one frequency and load does not establish broadband noise, channel matching, compensation or stability in a different host. Subjective phrases such as “wider soundstage,” “warm vocals” and “better detail” in seller descriptions are impressions, not performance guarantees.
Module construction can introduce output bias and heat. Physical size may also obscure the socket's orientation indicator. Never assume that a “Class A” tag guarantees thermal suitability, or that seller-reported 100 MHz bandwidth, 55 V/µs slew rate or micro-percent THD on one HDAM listing applies to all modules. The conflicting figures on the second-hand Crown-style page are a reason to verify, not to select whichever value is most attractive. For traceable performance, obtain manufacturer documentation, check actual part marking and test the assembled host across supply and temperature. The presence of a retailer brand, compatibility list or certification field is not independent evidence of laboratory validation.
Selection checklist
- Read the exact selected name and quantity: distinguish SS3602 1pcs or 2pcs from MUSES02 2pcs, SS3601, SS2590, SS2598 or an HA/HDAM/V6 substitute.
- Choose channel configuration: a single module, dual module and single-to-dual adapter are not the same deliverable.
- Match packaging: DIP-8-like module, SOIC-labelled device, gold-seal module or straight/patch version; check pin orientation and enclosure clearance in three dimensions.
- Measure host rails: check actual positive/negative socket voltages, current capacity, decoupling and allowable signal ranges against the selected unit's documented limits.
- Validate circuit behavior: inspect input bias and source resistance, feedback compensation, output load, oscillation, heat and offset before judging listening changes.
- Confirm condition and provenance: one mixed OPHDAM listing explicitly says second-hand/disassembled; “imported” or “original” in other reseller copy is not proof of authorized source or certification.
- Confirm included accessories: one 1PC offer specifically includes a socket; other listings do not establish a socket, adapter, DAC or complete amplifier.
Frequently asked questions
Does every listing ship a genuine Sparkos Labs SS3602? No. Many are explicitly HA4212, HDAM, V6, VV8, OP06AT or other alternatives, and reseller authenticity claims have not been independently established. Select the exact model and verify provenance where it matters.
Are SS3601 and SS3602 the same? No. The listings describe SS3601 as single-channel and SS3602 as dual-channel; confirm the host socket and device pinout.
Is a DIP-8-compatible shape enough for a safe drop-in swap? No. Supply rails, feedback stability, load drive, bias, decoupling and physical height must also fit.
Does the SS3602AR SOIC option plug into a DIP-8 socket? Do not assume so. SOIC describes a surface-mount form, whereas the larger plug-in modules have different physical construction.
Does 2pcs MUSES02 mean two SS3602s? No. MUSES02 is a different selected model. Choose the explicitly SS3602-labelled variant if you want that offer.
Are the advertised distortion and noise figures guaranteed for my DAC? No. They are seller figures with limited test conditions; installed performance depends on the host circuit and verification.
Are all OPHDAM products new? No such blanket statement is justified. One listing expressly calls its unit second-hand/disassembled despite conflicting generic metadata.
Will swapping an op amp definitely improve sound? No. Listening preference is subjective, and the host can become unstable or clip if electrical and mechanical requirements are not met.
Yoeruyo preserves the existing product assortment while making the distinction between SS3602-labelled options and other replacement-style modules explicit. Select by actual option and verify the host circuit, physical outline and supply documentation before installation.
