TDA2030A Audio Amplifier ICs, Mono Boards and Kits

TDA2030A audio amplifier ICs, assembled modules and mixed component kits

Browse TDA2030A and TDA2030 analog audio power-amplifier components, small finished amplifier boards and general-purpose IC assortments. The important distinction is what the selected variant actually ships. A TO-220-5 audio IC is not a powered speaker amplifier board; a board sold for single-supply operation is not a loose chip's universal circuit specification; and a mixed 75- or 150-piece kit does not contain only TDA2030A. Many multi-model product titles also offer TDA2003, TDA2050, LM1875, voltage regulators or transistors as alternative selections.

What a TDA2030A is

TDA2030A is an analog power-amplifier IC for driving an appropriately matched speaker in a designed circuit. It needs an input signal, a stable power supply, external passive components, a suitable speaker load and effective heat removal. It is not a DAC, a digital Bluetooth receiver, a generic voltage regulator or an automatic plug-in replacement for every five-lead TO-220-style part. A TO-220-5 package describes mechanical style and lead count, not identical pin functions or electrical ratings across TDA2003, TDA2030, TDA2050 and LM1875.

Some seller listings describe short-circuit or thermal protection in the TDA2030A family. Those claims must be tied to the exact device and conditions specified by its manufacturer; they do not make an amplifier immune to reversed power, improper heatsinking, sustained overload or wiring faults. Output wattage depends on supply configuration, voltage, speaker impedance, heatsink, distortion criterion and thermal limits. A generic “18 W” field in a module listing does not establish 18 W of continuous low-distortion output from every board in this collection.

Which format do you need?

  • Loose TDA2030A: separate ten-piece, twenty-piece and 10/30/50-piece variant options list TDA2030A for board builders and repair. Check whether the chosen suffix and package match your schematic, PCB and existing assembly. A bare IC has no amplifier-board input/output terminals, passive network or DC jack.
  • Loose TDA2030: other listings select TDA2030 without the A suffix, often alongside TDA2030A. Do not drop or add the suffix when specifying a replacement: compare the full manufacturer's electrical limits and exact circuit design.
  • Small amplifier modules: several product pages describe assembled TDA2030/TDA2030A boards with a 6–12 V single-supply input, including one-, two- and four-board quantity choices. One separate five-board headline says “TDA2030A TDA2003” but has only a default option and sparse technical detail, so the actual installed device should be confirmed from the board image/marking before treating it as an A-grade design. Board-level voltage and performance claims are specific to the selected PCB, not every loose device.
  • Mixed-model IC listings: listings let shoppers choose TDA2003A, TDA2030A or TDA2050A as different options. Others show TDA2002, TDA2003, TDA2040, TDA2050 and LM1875T. Each named option is a distinct device; a headline listing all models does not mean they ship together. Pack size may be fixed at five, ten or twenty, or encoded in a model-and-count variant.
  • Non-audio alternatives in the same listing: selectable LM317T regulator, IRF3205 MOSFET, E13009-2 switching transistor, MC33167T and LT3080ET regulator-related devices are not TDA2030A amplifiers. The selected option governs what ships even when “TDA2030A” appears elsewhere in that product title.
  • Mixed IC assortments: some 75-piece 15-value kits list five TDA2030 chips alongside LM386, NE555, LM358, ULN2003 and other families. An 85-piece or 150-piece kit also contains assorted ICs and may include sockets or adapters where expressly described. A source description for one 75-piece listing is corrupted, with names such as “Lm163” instead of LM386 and “Lm338” instead of LM339; do not assume its TDA2030 count from that damaged list. Check the selected kit's contents if exact inventory is critical.

Supply topology is the key design boundary

“Single supply 6–12 V” describes a particular assembled module listing, not a blanket rule for the IC. Some analog power-amplifier circuits use a split positive/negative supply while other boards implement a single-supply arrangement with their own biasing and output-coupling design. A single-supply module can have the required bias and coupling components already installed; a bare TDA2030A does not become a functioning single-supply board by itself. Consult the actual board schematic and the exact manufacturer's device data before choosing source voltage or speaker connections. Never copy another amplifier family's recommended input voltage, pin assignment or bridge arrangement onto TDA2030A.

The available electrical output is limited by supply headroom, load and thermal dissipation. Speaker impedance affects current and temperature; reducing impedance to obtain more power can exceed a device's safe operating limits. If building a bridged amplifier, use a design explicitly specified for the selected devices and load. Do not tie amplifier outputs together or assume either output terminal is safely common with the supply return on an unknown module.

Practical selection checklist

  1. Start with the deliverable: identify assembled mono PCB, bare TO-220-5 IC or multi-family kit. Check whether accessories such as a power adapter, speaker, terminal hardware or heatsink are explicitly included; do not infer them from the word “module.”
  2. Choose the exact silicon: TDA2030A, TDA2030, TDA2003A, TDA2050A, LM1875T and TDA2040 are different orderable families or grades. Match schematic, pin functions, supply voltage, output-load rating, tab connection and protection behavior to the specific choice.
  3. Check quantity at variant level: ten-piece and twenty-piece headlines usually describe chips, while “4PCS” on the 6–12 V board refers to multiple assembled modules. A 75-piece kit refers to its total assorted parts, not 75 identical amplifiers. Read the selected model-and-count combination rather than just the first number in the title.
  4. Check package and mounting: TO-220-5/ZIP-5 descriptions need exact lead spacing, pin 1 and metal-tab/thermal-interface verification. A product field saying “DIP” while the title says TO-220-5 is inconsistent, not proof that the IC fits a DIP socket. Confirm the package drawing before PCB layout or repair.
  5. Check the supply and load together: the module's specified DC input must agree with your supply polarity/current, and the loudspeaker's impedance must be within the selected assembled circuit's limits. A seller's standard or “international standard” placeholder is not a voltage specification.
  6. Plan heat dissipation: a linear power-amplifier IC can dissipate substantial heat even at moderate speaker power. Choose a suitable heatsink, thermal interface and enclosure ventilation based on the real operating condition. A bare chip listing does not promise a heatsink.
  7. Confirm input and output interfaces: an analog audio input must be appropriately biased and level-controlled; a bare IC needs the rest of the circuit. Check whether a PCB is mono, how its speaker output is coupled and what connections it actually exposes. Do not infer stereo functionality from the presence of two speaker terminals.

For repair and substitution

Replacing a failed amplifier calls for more than a matching five-pin outline. Verify the cause of failure, speaker impedance, power rails, tab isolation, nearby damaged capacitors and output stage wiring. The A suffix, voltage class and gain/compensation network matter. TDA2050 or LM1875 variants in the same seller listing should not be advertised as pin-compatible drop-in replacements for TDA2030A without design-level verification. Unverified “original,” “import” and “100% tested” claims in source copy are not evidence of authorized manufacture or guaranteed authenticity.

Frequently asked questions

Is the TDA2030A board a stereo amplifier? A single-chip module is generally one amplifier channel as described in its own listing. To build stereo, use a design with two correctly implemented independent channels; do not assume an unspecified single board provides both.

Can a 6–12 V module specification be applied to a loose TDA2030A? No. It describes that assembled board's input arrangement. Use the exact IC's data sheet and designed external circuit for bare-chip limits.

Does every product here ship TDA2030A? No. Several are selectable multi-model pages, and some mixed kits list TDA2030 rather than TDA2030A. The chosen variant and actual kit contents control the shipment.

Can I choose TDA2003 or TDA2050 as an automatic substitute? No. They differ in electrical characteristics and possibly pin, supply, compensation and thermal requirements. Check the application circuit before substitution.

Does “18 W” guarantee continuous output? No. Without supply, load, distortion and thermal test conditions, it is not a comparable continuous-power rating. Confirm performance for the selected board and operating setup.
