TDA2050 Audio Amplifier ICs, TO-220-5 Chips and Mono Board
TDA2050 audio amplifier ICs, selected model lots and a mono board
This collection is primarily a source of loose TDA2050, TDA2050A and TDA2050V audio power-amplifier ICs for designed analog speaker circuits and repair. One listing describes an assembled mono amplifier board, while numerous multi-model listings include other amplifier families and entirely different electronic components. Treat the product's selected model-and-count variant as the buying unit. A title naming TDA2050 is not proof that every option supplies one, and a bare TO-220-5 chip does not include a ready-to-use amplifier PCB, heatsink, speaker or power supply.
Understand the device and form factor
TDA2050-family devices are analog speaker power-amplifier ICs intended to operate within a specified circuit, supply and load envelope. Listings use TO-220, TO-220-5 and ZIP-5 terminology, generally describing a five-lead through-hole power package. Pin spacing, pin functions, electrical tab connection and heat-sink isolation need to be checked against the exact manufacturer's drawing for the selected suffix. A supplier field that calls a TO-220 device “SOP,” “DIP,” “SMD,” “voltage regulator,” “switch,” “logic IC” or an LED lighting op amp conflicts with the part-and-package description; do not use those generic fields as the basis for board layout or electrical design.
Suffixes are important. Product options explicitly distinguish TDA2050, TDA2050A and TDA2050V on different listings. Other headlines mention TDA2050L or TDA2050AV, but the sparse descriptions do not independently establish pinout, manufacturer provenance or that an unsuffixed option will ship an A-grade part. Match the exact full marking and documented specifications required by your repair or design. A seller's “original,” “genuine,” “best quality” or “100% tested” wording is not traceability or a verified test report.
Choose the item actually being delivered
- Dedicated loose TDA2050 / TDA2050A lots: listings offer selections such as 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 100 pieces. Some have a single default option with a pack quantity in the title; others explicitly combine model and quantity, for example TDA2050A / 10PCS or TDA2050V / 50pcs. Read that selection rather than assuming a headline's list of quantities all apply to one option.
- Related power-amplifier choices: multi-model products offer TDA2002, TDA2003/TDA2003A, TDA2030/TDA2030A, TDA2040 and LM1875T alongside TDA2050-family variants. They are selectable alternatives, not a mixed set unless a specific product expressly says it is a kit. Common five-lead styling does not establish a drop-in substitution, equivalent supply limits, matching feedback stability or tab insulation.
- Mixed semiconductor catalog listings: several pages let you choose TDA2050A or an unrelated device such as TNY176PN, SG6841DZ, C8051F320-GQR, DF08S, AO3400, AT45DB041D-SU, ADUM1300BRWZ, NCP1379DR2G, ISL1208IB8Z, DRV8301DCAR, VIPER100A, LM317T, IRF3205, E13009-2, LT3080ET and others. These variants are not TDA2050 audio amplifiers. Their shared title does not mean the order includes every named component.
- Other audio IC pages without a TDA2050 selection: one product headed “TDA2030A TDA2003A TDA2003 TDA2050” offers only TDA2030A and TDA2003A in its observed options. Another page lists TDA7256, TDA7293, TDA7297 and related chips without any TDA2050 choice. Do not buy these expecting a TDA2050 based on headline keywords alone.
- Assembled single-channel board: the “TDA2050 Mono Audio Power Amplifier Module” listing describes one board with a potentiometer, roughly 60 × 35 mm footprint and product field of 5–24 V input. Its source text quotes 1–2 A but adds a conflicting condition of under 500 mA at 24 V, and advertises both “5W–120W” and “10–100W” output without consistent test conditions. These numbers cannot establish continuous power, safe operating limits or compatibility across all TDA2050 ICs. Confirm its actual mounted part, schematic, input connector, heat sinking and supported load before powering it.
- Ambiguous board/module headlines: several 10/20/50-piece and 10/30-piece products call themselves “power amplifier board module” or “audio power module” yet their descriptions contain only generic package or category fields and the options are merely quantities. Do not assume they contain assembled PCBs from those words alone. Obtain visual and package confirmation when bare IC versus board matters.
Voltage, load and power need a circuit-specific answer
A TDA2050-family loose IC requires its manufacturer's recommended operating conditions and a complete implementation: input bias and gain network, correctly routed supply and ground, output network, speaker interface and adequate thermal management. Single-supply and split-supply amplifier designs are not electrically interchangeable merely because they use the same chip. A module listing's “5–24 V” input claim belongs to that specific assembled board, not to the bare chip or other modules. Generic “international standard” or numeric placeholder fields in unrelated seller specifications do not define a usable rail or absolute maximum.
Speaker impedance affects current demand, output swing, heat dissipation and distortion. The mono board describes a 4–16 Ω field but that broad field does not guarantee its highest headline wattage into every load. An advertised 120 W with 5–24 V and internally inconsistent current figures should not be represented as a verified continuous rating. For any build, evaluate supply voltage, current capacity, thermal resistance, load impedance, distortion criterion and actual PCB topology together. Do not size an enclosure or loudspeaker solely from a title number.
Heat sinking is a design requirement for many TO-220 audio power IC operating points. Check whether the mounting tab is electrically connected to a supply rail or output node for the exact device; use a correctly rated insulator if the design needs electrical isolation. Verify mechanical clearance, thermal compound, mounting torque and ambient temperature rather than presuming a five-lead chip can operate at speaker power without a heatsink. Protection features in a device data sheet do not make incorrect polarity, excessive voltage, a shorted speaker or insufficient cooling acceptable.
Repair and design checklist
- Read the exact selected variant: TDA2050, TDA2050A and TDA2050V are not labels to collapse. A 50PCS TDA2050A option supplies a different model/quantity combination from 10pcs TDA2050.
- Distinguish bare chip from board: check product images, printed model and contents. A TO-220-5 IC cannot be connected directly to an audio source and speaker without its supporting circuit; an assembled board still needs a suitable external supply and loudspeaker.
- Check package and pinout: use the actual device manufacturer's drawing. A product field saying DIP or SOP alongside a TO-220-5 title is a listing discrepancy, not a second confirmed footprint.
- Review supply topology: determine whether the original amplifier uses single or split rails and whether a module expects DC power on specific terminals. Do not import a different chip's operating voltage or pin assignment into an existing PCB.
- Validate load, gain and stability: feedback resistors, supply decoupling, output network and speaker impedance must fit the chosen device and PCB. A part offered next to TDA2030 or LM1875 is not automatically a drop-in replacement.
- Plan mechanical and thermal integration: match tab potential, isolation, heat sink and physical height. Repair the failed external components and fault cause before installing replacement silicon.
- Resolve conflicting seller claims: if wattage, current, package or model fields disagree, confirm the chosen board or chip with a reliable technical specification before committing to a design. Do not treat source promotional text as a guaranteed certification or endurance test.
Frequently asked questions
Does a listing titled TDA2050 always offer that model? No. Some long titles show several families but the actual variant list omits TDA2050. The selected variant is the authoritative ordering choice.
Does a ten-piece title mean ten of every named chip? No. In the multi-model pages a ten-piece option normally chooses one named device family; use the exact model-and-count option to identify what ships.
Can I substitute TDA2030A, TDA2050A and LM1875T freely? No. Check the full part data, circuit pinout, supply and thermal design, feedback requirements and speaker load before any substitution.
Is the mono board rated for 120 W continuously? That cannot be established from its contradictory 5–24 V, 1–2 A/under-500-mA-at-24-V and 5–120 W/10–100 W listing text. Request board-level test conditions and inspect the installed components.
Is “TO-220-5” the same as a complete amplifier? No. It describes the chip package style. The functional amplifier includes its surrounding circuit, supply, cooling and load.
Device model numbers are identification aids, not a claim of original manufacturer authorization, certification or universal electrical compatibility. Evaluate the exact item, suffix and selected pack size before ordering.
