TVS Diode Arrays and Related Surge Protectors
Compare compact TVS diode arrays and ESD-protection parts with other transient suppressors currently grouped here. Array-designated listings include SR12GL/SR12 in SOT-23-6, SP0503BAHT in SOT-143, MMBZ20VALT1G in SOT-23, SLVU2.8-4A1 and SLVU2.8-8A1 surface-mount options, and GSOT05C in SOT-23. The collection also contains SM712 asymmetric protection, single-device SMD TVS grades, and axial P6KE, 1.5KE and 15KPA listings. A single TVS diode or a box of TVS grades is not necessarily a multi-line array. Select the exact device for the number and polarity of lines being protected.
What is in the collection
- Compact array-designated parts: SR12GL offers 5- or 10-piece quantities; SP0503BAHT lists 10, 20, 50, 100 or 200 pieces; MMBZ20VALT1G is a fixed 100-piece listing. SLVU2.8 offers a choice between 4A1 and 8A1 in a 10-piece listing. GSOT05C offers 50 or 100 pieces. Confirm channel count, internal topology, pinout and data-line capacitance from the exact manufacturer's datasheet; do not infer them from package pins alone.
- Specialized and compact protection: SM712 appears in fixed 20-piece and selectable 10-, 20- or 50-piece listings with asymmetric RS-485-oriented claims; SD12C-01FTG is a 100-piece SOD-323 listing. Verify line bias range and the actual part designation before treating these as symmetric or interchangeable arrays.
- Other TVS formats: SMBJ and SMAJ SMD menus contain selected A and CA grades in 20-, 50- or 100-piece listings. Axial P6KE and 1.5KE choices and 15KPA A/CA 10-piece options require different footprints, pulse conditions and design checks. P6KE 200-piece assortments may contain 20 different grades at 10 each, whereas a 1.5KE product saying “28 values” offers a single chosen 20-piece grade. These products remain in the collection but should not be described as integrated arrays.
How to select protection
- Count the lines and identify normal common-mode and differential excursions, including negative swings. Check whether the selected circuit has independent channels, shared pins or asymmetric clamping, and map every pin to the manufacturer's drawing.
- Compare working standoff voltage, breakdown and clamping voltage at the stated pulse current against the protected interface's limits. A “5 V” or “12 V” headline is not by itself the permitted normal operating range or clamping voltage.
- For data interfaces, compare line capacitance, leakage and signal integrity as well as surge and ESD test waveform, peak current, repetition and temperature derating. A general seller ESD or wattage claim is not a verified system-level rating.
- Match package and selected quantity: SOT-23-6, SOT-143, SOT-23, SOD-323, SMA, SMB and axial outlines cannot be assumed pin-compatible. “Color” often selects the electrical model; “Model Number” may instead select a pack size. Confirm both before checkout.
Frequently asked questions
Is every listing here a multi-line TVS array?
No. Some are single TVS diodes, axial suppressors or multi-grade assortments. Confirm the selected device's internal schematic and channel count.
Can I replace an SR12GL with an SP0503BAHT?
Not by the array label alone. Compare pinout, topology, working voltage, capacitance, clamping behavior and package dimensions under the same conditions.
Does “28 values” include 28 different 1.5KE grades?
No. That listing's options select one 20-piece grade. Separately labeled P6KE assortments have different included-model lists.
Are A and CA suffixes the same polarity?
No. In common TVS naming they indicate unidirectional and bidirectional parts respectively, but verify the full selected manufacturer's part number and marking.
