Module Description

This sensor module features strong adaptability to ambient light conditions. It is equipped with a pair of infrared transmitting and receiving tubes. The transmitting tube emits infrared rays at a specific frequency. When encountering an obstacle (reflective surface) in the detection direction, the infrared rays are reflected back and received by the receiving tube. After processing by the comparator circuit, the green indicator light will turn on, and the signal output interface will output a digital signal (a low-level signal). The detection distance can be adjusted via the potentiometer knob, with an effective range of 2–30 cm, and the operating voltage is 3.3V–5V. The sensor’s detection distance is adjustable via the potentiometer, and it offers the advantages of low interference, easy assembly, and convenient use. It can be widely applied in numerous scenarios such as robot obstacle avoidance, obstacle-avoiding smart cars, assembly line counting, and black/white line tracking.

Module Parameters

When the module detects a signal from a forward obstacle, the green indicator light on the circuit board will illuminate, and the OUT port will continuously output a low-level signal. The module has a detection distance of 2–30 cm and a detection angle of 35°. The detection distance can be adjusted using the potentiometer: turning the potentiometer clockwise increases the detection distance, while turning it counterclockwise decreases the distance.
The sensor uses active infrared reflection detection, so the reflectivity and shape of the target are key factors affecting the detection distance. The detection distance is shortest for black objects and longest for white objects; it is shorter for small-area objects and longer for large-area objects.
The sensor module’s output port (OUT) can be directly connected to a microcontroller’s IO pin, or it can directly drive a 5V relay. Connection method: VCC-VCC; GND-GND; OUT-IO.
The comparator uses the LM393, ensuring stable operation.
The module can be powered by a 3–5V DC power supply. The red power indicator light will illuminate when power is connected.
It features 3mm screw holes for easy fixation and installation.

The threshold comparison voltage of each module has already been adjusted via the potentiometer before shipment. Do not adjust the potentiometer arbitrarily unless necessary.
