1. Overview of 20D Series

The 20D series are disc-type Zinc Oxide Metal Oxide Varistors (MOV) with a chip diameter of approximately 20 mm. They are radial leaded and epoxy resin encapsulated, mainly applied for surge suppression, overvoltage protection and ESD protection on power supplies and ports.

1.1 Functions

  • Overvoltage Clamping: Conducts rapidly when the applied voltage exceeds the varistor voltage, clamping the voltage to a safe level.

  • Surge Absorption: Absorbs 8/20μs surges generated by lightning strikes, switching operations and inductive loads, with peak current ranging from 3 kA to 10 kA.

  • ESD & Noise Suppression: Eliminates static electricity and high-frequency spike interference.
