Operating Modes & Control Logic

The SN65HVD230 supports three working modes: high-speed mode, slew-rate mode and standby mode, which are configured via the Rs control pin.

Figure 2 shows its typical application circuit in CAN bus systems. The transmit pin Tx of CAN controller connects to data input pin D of SN65HVD230 to send node data to CAN network. The receive pin Rx of CAN controller links to data output pin R of the module for data reception.

The mode selection pin Rs is connected to a grounded slew-rate resistor via jumper wire. Three working modes can be selected by hardware setting, and the adjustable resistance ranges from 0Ω to 100kΩ.
