📝 Product Description

The E18-D80NK is a cost-effective diffuse-reflective infrared photoelectric sensor. It detects object presence by emitting an infrared beam and receiving the light reflected from the object. It can detect both transparent and opaque objects. An ideal solution for smart car obstacle avoidance, production line product counting, security alarms, automatic door sensors, and various DIY projects.

⚠️ Important Notes / How to Use (Ensure Proper Operation!)

Correct Power Supply: Operating voltage is 5V DC. Do not exceed 5.5V or go below 4.5V, which may damage the sensor or cause instability.

Target Object & Background Requirements: The detected object surface should preferably be diffuse reflective (e.g., paper, wood). Avoid glossy or black light-absorbing surfaces, as performance will degrade. Keep the sensor’s background farther than the set detection distance.

Avoid Direct Strong Light: Although resistant to interference, avoid pointing the sensor lens directly at sunlight or strong light sources to maintain optimal performance.

Understand Output Signal: This is an NPN normally open (NO) sensor. Output is HIGH (≈Vcc) when no object is detected, and switches to LOW (≈0V) when an object is detected. Design your microcontroller reading logic accordingly (e.g., use a pull-up resistor or configure as pull-down input).

Adjustment Method: Power on, place the target object at the desired detection distance. Slowly rotate the potentiometer on the back until the signal LED changes state when the object enters/leaves the detection zone.
