Maxim announced the launch of the MAX98357 and MAX98358 digital input Class D audio power amplifiers to help designers achieve compact, efficient, plug-and-play solutions at a cost-effective cost. In addition to its small form factor, the device delivers Class AB amplifier sound quality of 3.2W with Class D amplifier efficiency for excellent high-fidelity sound, suitable for a variety of product applications.
The MAX98357 Pulse Code modulation (PCM) and MAX98358 Pulse Density modulation (PDM) plug-and-play speaker amplifiers take full advantage of the flexible Maxim pin arrangement. Compared with the typical analog amplifier scheme, the number of components is greatly reduced and the scheme size is greatly reduced. Since most users control volume digitally up, these features enable users to take full advantage of Maxim's cost-effective wafer-level package (WLP) without the need for expensive PCB VIA. To achieve excellent sound quality, the device uses digital inputs with high noise resistance and has a high jitter tolerance (at least 8dB better than competing solutions). The device also provides excellent electromagnetic interference (EMI) suppression

The system allows the use of long lines to connect speakers without the need to add external filtering. In addition, the device offers the industry's highest Class D efficiency.
