The PCM5102 integrates a stereo analog-to-digital converter (DAC) for excellent dynamic performance and improved tolerance to clock jitter. With DirectPathTM charge pump technology, the PCM510xA device provides a 2.1 VRMS central ground output (designer does not need to be at the output) Connected to the DC-blocking capacitor) and an external mute circuit that is traditionally associated with a single-supply line driver. Integrated soft muting can also be hardware muted to achieve a 120dB mute signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Each pin of the integrated line driver supports loads as low as 1k, surpassing all other charge pump-based line drivers in performance. A high-performance integrated audio phase-locked loop (PLL) with BCK reference integrated on the device internally generates SCK, eliminating the need for a system clock (commonly referred to as the master clock) to achieve a 3-wire I2S connection and reduce System electromagnetic interference (EMI). Smart Clock Error and PowerSense Undervoltage Protection feature a two-layer system that eliminates clicks and pops. Compared to many traditional switched capacitor DAC architectures, out-of-band noise can be controlled to a low level of 20dB, reducing EMI and aliasing in downstream amplifiers/ADCs. When an error occurs in the clock and power system, the device automatically attenuates the data and starts the analog mute circuit.
