The 3A rating is contingent upon excellent heat dissipation. Under high current (>2A) or with a small voltage difference between input and output, the chip will get VERY HOT. You MUST add a heatsink (sold separately) or active cooling for prolonged high-power operation. Without it, output will drop, the chip may shut down, or it can be permanently damaged.

ALWAYS measure the output voltage with a multimeter BEFORE connecting any load, especially sensitive electronics like Arduinos, Raspberry Pis, or sensors! The potentiometer is sensitive. Incorrect adjustment can produce a voltage high enough to instantly destroy your devices.
