MPU-6000 is the world's first integrated 6-axis motion processing component. Compared to multi-chip solutions, it eliminates the axis difference issues between a gyroscope and accelerometer and greatly reduces package space. The MPU-6000 integrates a 3-axis gyroscope and a 3-axis accelerometer, and includes a Digital Motion Processor (DMP) hardware acceleration engine that can connect to other manufacturers' accelerometers, magnetic sensors, or other sensors via a secondary I2C port. Through the primary I2C port, it outputs complete 9-axis fusion algorithm technology to the application as a single data stream.

InvenSense's motion processing database can handle complex motion sensing data, reducing the load on the operating system for motion processing calculations and providing an API with an architectural framework for application development.

The MPU-6000's full-scale gyroscope sensing range is ±250, ±500, ±1000, and ±2000 °/s (dps), allowing accurate tracking of both fast and slow movements. The user-programmable full-scale accelerometer sensing range is ±2g, ±4g, ±8g, and ±16g. Product transmission can be via I2C up to 400kHz or SPI up to 20MHz.

The MPU-6000 can operate at different voltages: VDD supply voltage is 2.5V±5%, 3.0V±5%, or 3.3V±5%; the logic interface VDDIO supply is 1.8V±5%. The MPU-6000 package size is 4x4x0.9mm (QFN), a revolutionary size in the industry. Other features include a built-in temperature sensor and an oscillator with only ±1% variation over operating conditions.
