Product Description
This QRE1113 breakout board features digital output and uses a capacitive discharge circuit to measure reflectance.
It is ideal for line-sensing applications where only digital I/O interfaces are available. This compact board is compatible with both 3.3V and 5V systems.
The QRE1113 infrared reflectance sensor board consists of two components: an LED that emits infrared light, and a phototransistor sensitive to infrared light.
When power is supplied to the VCC and GND pins, the internal infrared LED of the sensor turns on. A 100Ω resistor is mounted on the board in series with the LED to limit the current.
The output of the phototransistor is connected to a 10nF capacitor.
The faster the capacitor discharges, the higher the reflectivity of the detected surface.
This type of sensor is widely used in production line tracking robots.
White surfaces reflect more light than black surfaces, so the capacitor discharges faster when the sensor is aimed at a white surface than at a black one.
Power input and output pins are broken out to a 3-pin header with 0.1-inch spacing.
Mounting holes are also provided on the board for easy installation on other boards.
