Piezoresistive (resistive) thin film pressure sensors are varistors in circuits. When the pressure sensor has no external load, the circuit is in a high-impedance state. When external pressure is applied to the sensor, the circuit resistance decreases. Using a multimeter, the resistance value can be read directly by connecting to the external two terminals. The resistance value changes correspondingly to the external pressure. The pressure and resistance are in opposite ratios, and the pressure and conductance are linear, so the pressure change can be reversed based on the change in conductance.
