L298N is a high-voltage and high-current motor driver chip produced by ST Company. This chip adopts a 15-pin package. The main features are: high working voltage, with the maximum working voltage reaching up to 46V; The output current is large, with an instantaneous peak current of up to 3A and a continuous working current of 2A. Rated power: 25W. A high-voltage and high-current full-bridge driver with two H-bridges inside can be used to drive DC motors, stepper motors, relay coils and other inductive loads. Controlled by standard logic level signals; It has two enable control terminals, allowing or prohibiting the device from working without being affected by the input signal. There is also a logic power input terminal, enabling the internal logic circuit section to operate at a low voltage. An external detection resistor can be connected to feed back the variation to the control circuit. The L298N chip is used to drive the motor, which can drive a two-phase stepper motor or a four-phase stepper motor, or two DC motors.

Matters:

When your drive voltage (marked as 12V input in the above figure, the actual acceptable input range is 7-12V) is 7V

When it is -12V, the on-board 5V logic power supply can be enabled. After using the on-board 5V power supply, +5V in the interface

The power supply does not require input voltage, but a 5V voltage can be led out for external use. This is the regular application!

A 5V enable is a control signal with a level of 5V. When this signal input is valid and the power supply in the motor drive module is normal, the motor drive module outputs current. Otherwise, even if the power supply is normal, there will be no current on the motor.

The voltage supplies power to the internal logic circuits of the L298N. This is an unconventional application driven by high voltage!
