The VL53L0 is the 1 time-of-flight (ToF) laser ranging sensor. It enables accurate distance measurement of objects by measuring the time it takes for an infrared laser pulse to be emitted from the sensor and returned. Compared with the traditional infrared ranging module, the VL53L0X has the advantages of fast ranging speed, strong resistance to ambient light interference, and the measurement results are not easily affected by the color and material of the object. It is widely used in robot obstacle avoidance, UAV height setting, smart home, gesture recognition and other fields.

Instructions for use:
VL53L0 can complete all measurement operations within a-frame picture, usually in less than 30ms and at a distance of less than 2 meters. This ranging performance allows the photographing system to focus instantly in camera and continuous shooting modes, and even maintains the same performance in low-light or low-contrast scenes. Unlike traditional infrared proximity detection sensors, the VL53L0X outputs ranging results accurate to millimeters, and the color and reflected light of the target object will not affect the ranging results. Fast response FlightSenseTM technology, the sensor completes the ranging calculation inside, and outputs data through the I2C bus interface. The internal laser emits 940nm wavelength non-visible light, which does not harm the eyes and enhances the anti-interference performance of the external light source.

The VL 6180 is a time-of-flight ranging sensor. The sensor consists of a very small laser source and a matching sensor. The VL 61 80X can detect the "time of flight", or the time required for the laser to recover the sensor to calculate the distance.
Unlike most distance sensors, which rely on reflected light intensity or reflected angle to determine distance, the VL6180 uses a precise clock to measure the time it takes for light to bounce off a surface, which is different from ultrasonic sonar because it uses a very narrow light source. Unlike traditional infrared distance sensors, because there is no linearity problem or "double imaging", you cannot tell whether an object is close. Therefore, the VL61 80X is more accurate. The VL6180 module is recommended to handle distances of 5mm to 100mm. Due to the small size of the sensor module, it is easy to use in any robot or interactive project.
