Product Introduction
RS-485's differential communication method offers wide common-mode rejection and long-distance transmission stability, greatly improving communication distance. Depending on the cable material, the RS485 protocol allows for a maximum communication distance of up to 1000 meters. Therefore, it is widely used in industrial automation, building intercoms, smart meters, security monitoring, and other applications requiring multi-node, long-distance, interference-resistant half-duplex or full-duplex communication.
A TTL to RS-485 transceiver is an interface chip that converts single-ended TTL (3.3 V/5 V) serial data to differential RS-485 bus signals. During operation, when the MCU's TXD pin outputs high or low level data, the driver inside the transceiver, controlled by the DE (Driver Enable) pin, converts the signal into two inverted differential levels, A and B, and drives them onto the bus. When the RE (Receiver Enable) pin is enabled, the receiver picks up the signal from the differential bus, converts it back to single-ended TTL levels, and sends it back to the MCU.
