   BNO080 / BNO085 is a 9‑axis system‑in‑package (SiP), enabling rapid development for sensor‑based Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), robot and IoT devices. Co‑developed by Bosch and Hillcrest Labs, it integrates high‑performance accelerometer, magnetometer and gyroscope together with a low‑power 32‑bit ARM Cortex‑M0+ MCU inside compact package. Pre‑loaded Hillcrest Freespace sensor‑hub firmware delivers excellent 9‑axis / 6‑axis motion tracking for consumer and IoT sensor applications.
BNO080 / BNO085 is a compact turn‑key component with application‑oriented configuration, functions and performance. It helps OEMs shorten product development cycle, time‑to‑market and reduce BOM cost while maintaining high precision and quality.
The VR‑grade IMU BNO080 integrates 3‑axis accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer, running on ARM Cortex‑M0+ with powerful embedded fusion algorithms. This inertial measurement unit outputs accurate rotation vector heading data, ideal for VR and heading‑related projects; static rotation error ≤2°. All sensor data are fused and drift‑compensated to provide stable and reliable IMU readings.
This IC is designed for Android smartphones, capable of computing for VR‑headset applications purely on mobile phones. The sensor features powerful performance yet complex calculation logic. Available I2C library outputs rotation vector, accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer data, step count, activity classifier (cycling etc.) and calibration status.
Demo example is provided, you can observe accurate 3D object manipulation using IMU quaternion output.
Besides I2C, it also supports SPI and UART communication interfaces. Serial Basic adapter is recommended for UART connection.
This module is equipped with onboard 32 kHz crystal oscillator for improved precision and more accurate timestamp.
