Product Description
Want your Arduino project to play music or voice prompts? The DFPlayer Mini is the answer. It integrates a hardware MP3 decoder chip. Just send simple serial commands to play audio from an SD card. No complex codec programming neededβfree up your microcontroller for what matters. Perfect for voice guidance in smart homes, talking toys, electronic greeting cards, and interactive art installations.
π§ Quick Start Guide & Important Tips
πΉ What It Does & What You Need
β
This module does: Play designated MP3/WAV/WMA files from TF card or U disk via serial commands or IO triggers. 30-level volume control, track navigation, folder selection.
β This module is NOT: A power amplifier (needs external amp for loud sound). It's NOT a recorderβit only plays back audio.
π§ You will need:
A Micro SD card (formatted FAT16/FAT32) loaded with audio files.
An amplifier + speaker or powered speakers (module outputs line-level audio).
A controller (e.g., Arduino UNO) to send serial commands.
Wires and a stable power supply.
π‘ New to this? Choose our [Starter Kit] with SD card, speaker module, and Dupont wires.
πΉ Wiring Quick Guide
1.Power: VCC to 5V (recommended), GND to controller GND.
2.Serial: RX to Arduino TX, TX to Arduino RX.
3.Audio Out: SPK_1 & SPK_2 can drive a small passive speaker (low volume), or connect to an amplifier module for louder sound. DAC_R/DAC_L for active speakers.
β οΈ Caution: The module logic is 3.3V level. When connecting to a 5V Arduino, add a 1K resistor in series on the RX line to step down voltage. Some newer versions have onboard level shiftingβcheck your board.
πΉ Important Notes & Common Questions
SD Card Format: Must be FAT16 or FAT32. exFAT/NTFS will not work. Use simple file names, avoid special characters.
π File Order: Playback order follows the physical write order on the SD card, not file names. Use tools like "DriveSort" to arrange the order.
π΄ Clean Power: Sensitive to power ripple. Use a dedicated regulated supply, especially when driving speakers. Powering directly from the Arduino's 5V pin may cause noise or instability.
β No serial response?
Check: Baud rate is 9600. RX/TX are crossed. Module is powered at 5V. Check for return codes after sending commands.
β Why is the sound so quiet?
The module outputs line-level audio, not speaker-level. You must add an external amplifier module or powered speakers for normal listening volume.
