The MCU-219 module is an I2C interface zero-drift, bidirectional current/power monitoring integrated circuit (IC), further expanding the TI energy-saving electronic product lineup. The INA219 features industry-leading accuracy and compact size, capable of monitoring the voltage drop across the shunt resistor, sensing the shunt power supply voltage, and calculating the power supply. This device is packaged in SOT23 and provides a small, cost-effective solution for digital current sensing in servers, laptops, power supplies, battery management, and automotive and telecommunications equipment.
The INA219 achieves an error accuracy of 1% within the temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, with an offset of 100uV. The high precision of this device combined with its 12-bit resolution helps customers minimize the voltage drop across the shunt resistor, thereby minimizing power loss and power consumption and saving board space. The total bus voltage range that this device can sense is 0V to +26V.
Other important features of the INA219 include:
A programmable calibration register that can directly read the current in amperes and the power in watts.
The ability to average up to 128 samples to filter in noisy environments.
