The EGBO KY-032 is a high-performance digital infrared sensor for obstacle avoidance and line tracking. It detects objects by measuring reflected infrared light and converts the result into an easy-to-process digital signal. Its adjustable range, dual-tuning mechanism, and enable control make it ideal for educational robots, smart racing cars, automated inspection, and more.
β οΈ Important Notes / How to Use (Must Read Before Use!)
Connection Wires & Jumper Cap ARE REQUIRED! This is a bare module. It does NOT include DuPont wires or jumper caps. You will need:
4x Female-to-Female DuPont Wires to connect VCC, GND, OUT, EN pins.
1x 2Pin Jumper Cap or a short wire to short the EN pin to the GND pin. This is ESSENTIAL for the module to function.
Detection Distance Varies by Object: Most sensitive to white, reflective objects (up to ~40cm). Distance reduces significantly for black, light-absorbing objects. Always calibrate using your actual target.
Setup & Tuning for Line Tracking: For line following, mount the sensor vertically downward, 1-2 cm above the ground. First, adjust the 502 resistor (frequency) to find the strongest signal point. Then, adjust the 103 resistor (threshold) to set the desired triggering distance, ensuring a clear HIGH/LOW output difference between the background and the black line.
Enable (EN) Pin Usage:
Default Operation: Use a jumper cap to short EN to GND.
Power-Saving Mode: Remove the jumper. Connect EN to an MCU GPIO. Output LOW (0) to activate the sensor, HIGH (1) to put it to sleep.
Avoid Direct Strong Light: Avoid pointing the sensor lens directly at sunlight or other strong IR sources.
